Human Resources Generalist I

Job Description:

HR Program Coordination 
Coordinates recruitment, benefits, training, and employee relations programs.
Develop and maintain liaison relationships with managers, department heads, and HR representatives.
Provide guidance and assistance regarding HR policies and procedures.
Acts as Notary public for department.
Collaborates with IFAS HR as the department HR Liaison.
Attend monthly IFAS HR roundtable, view UFHR monthly forum, and register for HR trainings as needed.

HRIS Management 
Approve transactions and input changes and relevant information into the university HRIS.
Acts as the Department Security Administrator, Identity Manager and handles the Network Managed By.
Update Excel workbooks to track HR actions and completions.
Responsible for updating the IFAS Directory, as needed.

Hiring and Onboarding 
Coordinates all hires including TEAMS, OPS, STAS, GAs, Post Docs, and Fellowships.
Generate Gator Start paperwork and conduct I-9 management.
Process foreign national hires and initiate POIs.
Orders Gator 1 cards for new employees.
Processes New Hire ePAFs for staff, GA’s and students.

Payroll and Compensation 
Manages payroll updates and exceptions, enter payroll distribution, and manage payroll deadlines and approvals.
Communicate with the fiscal team about new hires for payroll distributions.
Process Additional Pays, Job Edits, update positions, create new positions, and handle Leave Epafs.
Process leave cash outs.
Provides guidance for employees with time entry inquires.

Employee Relations and Compliance 
Resolve routine issues and employee concerns such as medical claims, documentation requests, and training enrollments.
Review federal and state laws, and university regulations to ensure HR programs are effective and compliant.
Monitor the effectiveness of HR policies and recommend revisions or modifications.

Termination and Transition Management 
Process terminations, resignations, retirements, and transfers.
Handle HR 600 forms, Nepotism forms, and FMLA and Parental leave ePAFs.

Reporting and Documentation 
Run and distribute various payroll reports, monitoring them for action items.
Route final payroll lists to supervisors and maintain department records.
Create Dropbox files for hires and use DocuSign for administrative purposes.

Assists with social media and other duties as assigned.

Expected Salary:

$23.95; commensurate with education and experience. 

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Professional demeanor
Knowledge and understanding of employment laws and university regulations
Proficient in use of Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe
