3rd shift Seasonal In-Plant Driver (Bay City plant)

Description

DHT is looking for  2 seasonal drivers for night shifts at the Bay City plant. The In-Plant Transfer Driver will be expected to transport sugar beets for our contracted customer. The in-plant driver is expected to maintain a professional image while transferring sugar beets from truck and trailer to hopper.

Immediate hire for right candidate. 6 months to one year dump experience required. This is a night shift position.

Upon successful completion of the campaign, incumbents have the potential to be trained in our gravel train division and given full time status.

Essential Duties:

· Follow appropriate safety procedures for transporting goods

· Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order

· Collect delivery instructions from appropriate sources, and verify instructions

· Inspect loads to ensure that cargo is secure

· Maintain logs of working hours or of vehicle service or repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations

· Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew

· Pulling levers or turning cranks to raise the trailer and dump the trailer’s contents

· Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the appropriate parties

· Check all load-related documentation for completeness and accuracy

· Couple or uncouple trailers by changing trailer jack positions

*Drivers do not leave the plant grounds in the truck during shift*

Requirements

· Licensed CDL A Driver

· Acceptable MVR

· Must be able to work holidays

· Must be able to work 12- hour shifts, 3-5 days/nights a week

*Operate a manual transmission*

· 1 Year of Experience

Preferred Requirements:

· T-Endorsement by end of campaign to transfer to doubles division

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds

• Must be able to pass a drug and alcohol screen

• Must be able to pass a DOT physical
