The Vice President, Corporate Services & Chief Compliance Officer (VP CCO) at SPP is a pivotal leadership role responsible for supporting the organization's processes, procedures, and controls, while ensuring centralized compliance oversight. The VP CCO oversees internal audits, quality improvement, and service valuation efforts, and assists in the creation, execution, and maintenance of corporate strategic initiatives. Additionally, this role ensures adherence to laws and regulations, manages compliance programs, and addresses compliance issues. As a key communicator and spokesperson, the VP CCO works closely with the President, Board, staff, and external stakeholders to foster teamwork, ensure clear communication, and maintain high standards of conduct and ethics within the organization.
To be successful in the role we are looking for:
LEADERSHIP and MANAGEMENT
- Work in effective partnership with the President and the Board to ensure that SPP strategic vision and objectives are clearly defined to provide appropriate context and focus for the organization’s work.
- Ensure that information flows effectively and that all relevant parties (staff, leadership, Board) are provided with the information required to perform their respective responsibilities.
- Translate business plans into specific tactical plans with measurable outcomes and defined accountabilities to facilitate allocation of resources (organizational and capital) to provide maximum benefit.
- Provide direction and leadership to ensure that SPP achieves and sustains continued excellence in provision of service to its members.
- Ensure that the organization performs in compliance with relevant laws, regulations and standards.
- Support the recruitment and retention of professional staff; help develop an appropriate performance evaluation system- with emphasis on well-defined objectives, clearly defined responsibilities and levels of accountability for all staff; provide leadership in the development of staff and support a work environment that attracts and retains diverse and well-qualified individuals.
COMMUNICATIONS and ADVOCACY
- Work closely with the President to become an effective spokesperson for the organization and ensure clear and effective communications of SPP’s organizational activities, objectives and performance with all stakeholders, including Staff, Board, Members, regulators, legislators, …etc.
- Build quality relationships with organizations and individuals working in SPP’s areas of interest; represent SPP in communications with these parties as requested by the President; leverage SPP’s effectiveness through these efforts with these key relationships.
- Be a capable spokesperson for SPP on process integrity and ethics matters and, to the extent requested by the President, on other issues.
- Implement Board policies, program goals and objectives as directed by the President; provide ongoing information to the Board on corporate performance matters.
- Build a strong collaborative relationship with the Board, SPP’s Members, the President and SPP organizational leadership.
- Provide the strong inter-personal and leadership skills and the ability to encourage and foster teamwork externally with Members and internally across business functions and at all levels within the organization.
