About the role

Description

The Family Office Accountant is a part-time, hybrid position that assists the Director of Family Office in various accounting and tax reporting duties including maintaining the General Ledger, accurately recording transactions, preparing monthly financial statements, and reviewing monthly account reconciliations, as well as special projects/requests. This position also maintains the books for various portfolios/entities. The Family Office Accountant will be an integral member of the Family Office team that is dedicated to providing excellent and timely service to the Family. .


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • General ledger journal entries to record monthly activity for all trusts
  • Timely prepare monthly trust financial statements
  • Support and assist the monthly close process including review of account reconciliations
  • Federal and state tax filings for small trusts and individuals
  • Federal gift tax returns
  • Annual beneficiary statements for numerous trusts and beneficiaries
  • All other duties as assigned by management

Requirements

  

EDUCATION AND REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field preferred
  • Current CPA license or progress towards completing
  • Minimum of two years’ work experience in accounting and/or tax preparation 
  • Experience working with Sage Intacct and CCH ProSystem FX or similar software is desirable
  • Work experience in a family office and/or with trusts is preferred
  • Solid skills in reconciliation, analysis, and sound judgement


SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general technical procedures or governmental regulations
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence 
  • Ability to meet internal deadlines for timely reporting
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and clients
  • Must be able to understand and communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to solve practical problems working with a variety of concrete variables where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form. 
  • Proficient in the use of personal computer and Microsoft applications
