The Senior Accountant position contributes to Medical Teams International’s calling by leading the preparation and reconciliation of financial information and ensuring timeliness, accuracy, transparency, and compliance with all applicable accounting rules and regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Functional Oversight

Oversee reconciliation and maintenance of the consolidated general ledger to ensure accuracy in compliance with current accounting standards, and timely closing of the books each month.
Accounting and finance:
- Ensure accurate maintenance of all general ledger (GL) accounts and records by preparing and reviewing the reconciliations and supporting schedules of the consolidated trial balance each month.
- Monitor ledger accounts for proper classifications and accounting treatment. Resolve problems and issues quickly.
- Prepare accruals and adjust journal entries for monthly/yearly closing of the books.
- Maintain GL distribution tables for payroll, benefits, and associated allocations.
- Record intercompany wires and transactions.
- Reconcile investment accounts and record monthly activity.
- Review prepaid expenses and prepare amortization schedules and journal entries.
- Maintain and record fixed asset additions, deletions, and depreciation schedules.
- Record gift-in-kind transactions and maintain accuracy of inventory accounting. –
- Maintain lease accounting right-of-use and amortization schedules.
- Review and collaborate with finance team to help resolve issues with the reconciliation of corporate bank accounts.
- Approve accounts payable transactions and post payment batches.
- Complete special accounting-related projects and reports.
Other Duties:
- Advise and support the annual external audit.
- Prepare schedules in support of the annual Form 990 tax return.
- Provide support to the CFO, Controller, and other Finance staff when necessary.
- Support safeguarding of program participants and employees through promoting an environment of awareness and upholding the code of conduct provisions of Medical Teams Protection from Sexual Exploitation, Abuse & Harassment, Child & Vulnerable Adult protection, and harassment-free workplace policies. Incumbents will remain alert and responsive to any child and adult safeguarding risks, acquire relevant knowledge and skills which will enable you to promote strong safeguarding practices, understand the child and adult safeguarding policy and procedures, and conduct yourself in a manner consistent with the Safeguarding code of conduct and behavior expectations
