About the Role

As an HR Generalist for US Traffic Control, you will play an important role in supporting daily HR operations across multiple branches. This position focuses heavily on recruitment, onboarding, employee support, and maintaining compliance with HR policies and procedures. You will help ensure accurate recordkeeping, provide guidance on routine HR questions, and contribute to a positive and productive work environment. This is a hands-on role that requires adaptability and strong organizational skills as the company continues to grow. This role supports branches located in Buffalo, Syracuse, and Albany, New York.

What You'll Be Doing

Human Resources Responsibilities:
• Lead full-cycle recruiting and hiring for assigned branches, including workforce planning, job postings, candidate sourcing, screening, and interview coordination.
• Partner with branch managers to drive timely, high-quality hiring decisions and ensure consistent candidate experience.
• Own the offer, pre-employment, and onboarding process for all new hires, including required documentation, orientation logistics, system access, and equipment coordination.
• Take an active, hands-on role in day-to-day HR operations, including employee support, maintaining and updating records, and policy administration.
• Help resolve routine employee relations issues and escalate complex matters as needed.
• Maintenance and audit of employee files and other documentation to ensure compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
• Partner closely with branch managers to lead and manage employee relations matters, including investigations and workplace issue resolution.
• Oversee compliance with HR processes and policies, providing guidance and training to managers to promote consistent and fair practices.
• Manage internal employee changes including transfers, promotions, and terminations while maintaining accurate HRIS records.
• Train and assist with timely and accurate payroll processing.
• Partner closely with the Payroll Coordinator to support accurate payroll processing, resolve discrepancies, and ensure timely issue resolution.
• Review payroll related data for accuracy, including new hires, terminations, rate changes, deductions, direct deposit and tax changes.
• Partner with the Safety on incidents, injuries, workers’ compensation, and motor vehicle record compliance.
• Responsible for office administration tasks, including annual insurance administration, COI maintenance, and coordination of office operations.


What We're Looking For
• Experience in core HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, and employee support, with a solid understanding of HR processes and compliance basics.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with managers and team members to ensure HR policies and procedures are understood and followed.
• Adaptability and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to assist employees with questions and provide clear guidance on HR matters.

What you'll need
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
• Approximately 2 years of relevant experience including recruitment, onboarding, and payroll.
• Basic understanding of employment laws and HR best practices.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to assist employees and collaborate with managers.
• Demonstrated high level of accuracy and attention to detail in managing confidential employee, payroll, and compliance-related information.
• Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism.
