The Role at a Glance

This position will provide subject matter expertise and direction on complex operational and accounting processes for derivative investments in Lincoln’s General Account Invested Assets on a Statutory, GAAP, Management & Tax basis. They will perform complex research, analysis, & proper accounting treatment of Lincoln’s derivative investment positions to support strategic investment operations, hedging programs &  initiatives. They will also lead special projects, and coach and develop less experienced team members.

What you'll be doing

  • Provides investment accounting treatment of derivative assets under applicable Statutory, GAAP, Management & Tax basis.
  • Provides subject matter expertise on derivatives of varying structures and collateral across over the counter and cleared markets. for existing/developing strategies for compliance with regulations to key stakeholders & team members.
  • Researches, identifies, and resolves complex investment accounting issues.
  • Conducts presentations and communicates complex investment accounting risks and financial implications to Senior Management.
  • Monitors Managed Service Provider (MSP) delivery, providing oversight, review, and direction as necessary to ensure deliverables are accurate and on-time.
  • Meets simultaneous needs of different internal clients and manages complex issues and conflict with clients and managed service providers.
  • Collaborates effectively with applicable key stakeholders across the enterprise to facilitate the accurate & timely completion of the investment accounting process for their assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Maintains internal control system to ensure SOX compliance. Recommends enhancements.
  • Prepares & communicates concise & focused technical financial documents, presentations & communications (memos, fact sheets, collateral materials) which direct the reader to salient points for a wide range of technical & non-technical audiences.
  • Serves as a project manager or subject matter expert for assigned  projects. Reviews technical work of less experienced team members or MSP providers.
  • Provides expertise and training and coaching to junior team members.
  • Provides technical research on new & existing general account investments & derivatives

What we’re looking for

Must-Haves

  • 5 - 7+ Years experience in derivative & collateral operations or accounting, valuation or financial reporting relates to derivatives and collateral programs that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position.
  • Exposure and prior experience supporting to a wide variety of derivative instruments including interest rate, foreign currency and equity contracts is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to be innovative and an aptitude to drive and accept change
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Analytical skills and close attention to detail is necessary
  • Ability to adapt quickly in a changing work environment
