Senior Director, Prospect Strategy, Philanthropy

The Senior Director of Prospect Strategy develops and oversees the implementation of policies and procedures to ensure the effective identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of philanthropic prospects and donors to Inova Health System. This role ensures effective coding, tracking, and management of prospect movement through the fundraising process. The Senior Director also conducts regular prospect meetings with all gift officers while ensuring all gift officers have balanced and active prospect portfolios. This role manages vendor relationships and adheres to HIPPA laws related to the collection of confidential information.
Job Responsibilities
- Supervises the Prospect Management Team.
- Develops and administers budgets to support the effective achievement of Foundation prospect research, qualification, and management goals/objectives.
- Assists in the creation of specific performance metrics and monitors/tracks gift officer activities.
- Oversees the evaluation, negotiation, purchase, and renewal of research resources, publications, and services.
- Develops and oversees the implementation of policies and procedures to ensure effective identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of philanthropic prospects and donors to Inova Health System.
- Develops policies and procedures to ensure effective projections and forecasts for major gift productivity.
- Assists in identifying new gift prospects through the identification and acquisition of prospect screening tools, major gift donor analysis/modeling, and database mining.
- Assists gift officers in the development of fundraising strategies for all identified gift prospects.
- Oversees Prospect Strategy to ensure it is performing effectively, which may include but not limited to, preparing and implementing business strategy to achieve the organization’s goals, ensuring legal compliance, communicating and collaborating with stakeholders, managing employment decisions and contributions of supporting team members, and managing departmental budget and fiscal success.
Minimum Requirements:
- 6 years of related experience in fundraising, prospect strategy or philanthropy roles.
- Education - Bachelor's degree
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years of people leadership experience
- Experience working in a hospital or healthcare system is highly preferred
- Experience in non-profit fundraising prospect strategy and utilizing data to advise gift officers on portfolio management
This is a hybrid role with 3 days/week onsite expectations. $10,000 relocation bonus available as needed.
