Job Description Summary
The Executive Chief Information Officer of Edison Works will serve as the CIO for the Classified Defense business within GE Aerospace. This leader will have responsibility for the wing-to-wing Digital Technology strategy for the business as it grows its engineering consulting business and builds new capability as a manufacturer of classified defense engines. As Edison Works is preparing to grow into a multi-billion-dollar operation, this role will serve as a key member of the Edison Works leadership team to ensure that the technology strategy is in line with the business growth plans and is a key enabler of efficiency and productivity.At GE Aerospace, we invent the future of flight, lift people up, and bring them home safely. With an installed base of 40K+ GE & partner commercial engines, powering 2/3 of all commercial flights, and a fleet of 20K+ military engines powering global armed forces, GE is at the heart of the aviation industry recovery. The Edison Works business, supporting classified defense programs, is a critical component to the overall GE Aerospace growth strategy.
Job Description
This leader will be responsible for:
- Developing a progressive wing-to-wing technology strategy, covering infrastructure, digital workplace, and business systems across Engineering, ITO, OTR, and Services business processes.
- Leading the classified implementation of pillar enterprise transactional platforms including ERP and MES systems.
- Successfully operating accredited air-gapped and classified systems, SCIF environments, and secure enclaves.
- Partnering with Security & Internal Audit teams, the Government customer, and GE teams in Washington, DC to ensure a technology strategy that both meets the requirements of the customer and also allows for efficient operation of the Edison Works business.
- Ensuring all IT systems and processes comply with relevant defense sector regulations such as the JSIG and NISPOM.
- Owning and executing a comprehensive Model Based Engineering strategy across the full engineering and manufacturing value stream.
- Championing the simplification of processes to securely transport data across domains.
- Partnering with the GE Aerospace unclassified defense business on a holistic digital technology strategy that encompasses the entire Military / Defense portfolio.
- Balancing and prioritizing reliability and mission assurance with/over the adoption of bleeding-edge trends.
- Working closely with Digital Technology shared services to deliver solutions & outcomes on behalf of the Edison Works business.
- Partnering with Operating Leaders in the Edison Works business to define a business architecture that can be enabled with the deployment of new technologies.
- Recruiting, developing and retaining cleared IT and cyber personnel to create a world-class digital technology team of ~150 employees and contractors.
- Creating and sustaining a high-op-tempo environment with classified program pressures.
- Being a practitioner of Lean, and coaching the organization on Lean culture, tools, behaviors, and operating models.
- Acting as a key leader of the GE Defense & Systems Digital Technology leadership team, advocating for the advancement of the DT function.
- Balancing the financial & operational commitments of the Edison Works DT organization.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited university or college with minimum of 12 years of professional experience OR Associates degree with minimum of 15 years of professional experience OR High School Diploma with minimum of 17 years of professional experience.
- Minimum 9 years of professional experience in Technical Product Management or IT.
- Minimum 7 years of professional experience as a People Leader.
- Note: Military experience is equivalent to professional experience.
- Due to the nature of our projects a US Citizenship is required.
- Ability to secure and maintain a US Government Security Clearance.
Desired Skills:
- Deep understanding of regulatory compliance requirements in the defense sector, including JSIG and NISPOM.
- Proven experience in managing and securing classified information systems and technologies supporting multi-tenant and multi-caveat deployments.
- Experience successfully leading secure IT transformation initiatives, including ERP and MES implementations.
- Familiarity with technologies like secret cloud, ruggedized edge computing, and mission systems integration.
- Comfort engaging with government security counterparts such as DCSA, NSA, and program-specific ISSM/ISSO teams.
