- Magistrate Court is performed at the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Department courtroom daily.
- Prepare arrest files with proper forms for defendant and judge.
- Interview defendants while in custody to determine financial status for indigent defense appointments.
- Assist judge with questions, copies, forms or as needed.
- Provides assistance for data collection, data entry and validation of data concerning the Indigent Defense Program.
- Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma/GED.
- Good computer and typing skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Flexible with magistrate hours.
- Good interpersonal and organizational skills and ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees and elected officials.
- Ability to complete assigned projects.
- REQUIRED TO WORK EVERY WEEKEND AND HOLIDAY.
SALARY: Part-Time, $20.00 per hour, up to 29 hours per week
CLOSING DATE: Upon filling position
