Job Summary
Position Title: Director, NYREACH
Job Summary: NYREACH is a Bronx-based non-profit established in 2015 as a response to profound public health disparities in our communities calling for coordinated, multifaceted approaches that extend beyond traditional healthcare models. Our approach recognizes that effective public health initiatives must address multiple social determinants simultaneously, including access to healthcare, nutrition, education, economic stability, and social support networks. NYREACH has successfully designed and implemented numerous programs across the greater New York City metropolitan area, building an extensive knowledge base regarding the unique challenges faced by urban communities with diverse needs. We have used our community centered programs and healthcare partnerships to drastically improve the health of those most in need. NYREACH aims not only to see our communities thrive, but also to be a template for community empowerment across the nation.
This role also includes oversight of NYREACH’s participation in New York State’s Medicaid Social Care Network (SCN) under the 1115 Waiver, with responsibility for staff supervision, program delivery, and compliance tied to SCN-funded activities.
As the Director of NYREACH, the ideal candidate will play a critical role in NYREACH’s fundraising efforts, management of administrative day to day operations, program oversight and hiring/managing a capable staff who, along with the ED, will carry out the mission and vision of the organization. The ideal Director will have expertise or significant experience researching, developing, and maintaining programs in community health and workforce development; be well versed in key areas of healthcare operations; have experience applying for and managing grant/funding opportunities through private or gov’t contracts; and have experience managing and mobilizing a staff toward success while effectively reporting to a Board of Directors.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership & Vision
- Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction to advance the organization's mission, ensuring alignment with core values, long-term goals, and community impact.
- Fundraising & Financial Oversight
- Drive fundraising efforts including donor cultivation, grant writing, and partnership development; oversee the organization’s financial health, budgeting, and compliance with nonprofit regulations. Oversee awarded contracts/grants especially where the organization is required to report progress and deliverables for payment to private and government bodies.
- Board Engagement & Governance
- Collaborate closely with the Board of Directors to support governance, report on organizational performance, and implement board-approved initiatives.
- Program & Operations Management
- Develop and implement non-profit programs, ensure services are effective, mission-aligned, and responsive to community needs; manage day-to-day operations and staff performance.
- Community & Stakeholder Relations
- Serve as the primary spokesperson and advocate, building strong relationships with community partners, funders, government agencies, and the media to elevate the organization's visibility and impact. Possess key experience fostering partnerships within the non-profit and healthcare space.
- Subject Matter Expertise
- Possess extensive knowledge in healthcare, non-profit operations, community health and community health initiatives, Social Determinant of Health intervention, and insurance (especially current movements in Medicaid reform in New York through the 1115 Waiver).
