Job Description:

The Head of Finance, Strategic Projects will build, lead, and develop a team of finance professionals and collaborate extensively with various groups across the Bank, including: TD's EAGLE and PIC executive leads, various teams within US PMO and TD's Finance functions. Responsible for owning TD's EAGLE and PIC project finance framework, assumptions, methodology, implementation, business advisory, and strategy.  Emphasis is placed on supporting our partners through explaining: project finance methodology, trends and investment ROI expectations, and helping resolve funding risks.  Also accountable to enhance our end to end forecasting and business casing process through implementing a robust framework, integrated into periodic forecasting cadence, outcomes measurement (project ROI, efficiencies, post project outcomes), and a cohesive set of KPIs against which the EAGLE and PIC success can be measured.

Depth & Scope:

  • Provides people management leadership by hiring the best talent, setting goals, developing staff, managing employee performance and compensation decisions, promoting teamwork, and handling any/all disciplinary actions, as required
  • Ensures the complexities of 40+ projects are understood by the businesses in relatable, meaningful, and practical terms
  • Identifies value adding opportunities to improve periodic forecasting and business casing processes
  • Maintains and develops funds transfer pricing methodologies & assumptions
  • Evaluates new initiatives and when required lead the financial intake process
  • Works closely with other business partners including senior leaders within the Lines of Business / PMO leadership
  • Leads and develops a team of finance/risk professionals to ensure best-in-class project finance processes
  • Provides active engagement to exec and steering committees as needed
  • Develops relationships with stakeholders across the bank, including other Finance functions, 2nd line and 3rd line risk functions
  • Fosters a positive and rewarding working environment through R&R programs, employee engagement and continuous learning

Education & Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in finance/accounting, project management or other relevant experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Math or Economics
  • Preferred designation: CPA, FRM, CFA, and/or MBA
  • Comprehensive knowledge of project finance, with relating complex financial concepts and business results in terms understandable by audiences with varied backgrounds & seniority levels
  • Demonstrated strong conceptual and analytical abilities
  • Strong internal control orientation
  • Strong understanding of and experience in implementing large scale and complex programs/projects
  • Exceptional problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, team player
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Organization, prioritization, negotiation are critical
  • Proven ability to develop strong business relationships with internal and external partners
