Pay is determined by prior experience.
Position is on 2nd shift (Monday through Thursday 2:30 pm to 12:30 am) there is a $1.00 per hour shift differential.
- Training will take place on 1st shift (Monday through Friday 6:30 am to 2:30 pm)
The Finishing Lead Person’s (FLP) primary role will be to supervise and execute job flow, assuring that all current and future jobs avoid unnecessary downtime. The FLP will identify, troubleshoot, and assist in correcting potential quality failures or other issues that may arise during the finishing process. The FLP will function as a primary point of contact for finishing personnel and report directly to the Finishing Manager.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND DUTIES:
- Computer competency is critical.
- Many elements of this position require a strong knowledge of and ability to navigate computer-related aspects of the job.
- Proactively review all upcoming work and gather necessary components, such as cartons, cores, roll labels, carton labels, core labels, stack labels, pallets, work in process, etc. prior to starting the actual job on the rewind unit. Present all components to the respective workstations as directed by the Finishing Manager.
- Repeatedly visit each workstation throughout the shift to identify and provide any additional components. Finishing Operators should be able to remain at their respective stations continually.
- Perform start up approvals and in process inspections on all finishing product
- Assist the Finishing Manager in accomplishing hourly production goals on all finishing equipment.
- Monitor established production goals and job specific requirements and notify the Finishing Manager if any of these are in jeopardy.
- Assure that all standard operating procedures are being accurately executed.
- Take all reasonable measures to help prevent unnecessary down time.
- Provide immediate assistance to struggling operators.
- If you cannot provide assistance, get someone who can.
- All jobs finishing directly off press must receive the same attention as all finishing workflow. This pertains to cartons, pallets, etc.
- Perform post job run review to assure all expectations have been accomplished.
- Immediately notify the production manager of any potential shortages discovered during the finishing process.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Knowledge of all operations and procedures.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Prior experience in production/finishing environment.
- Able to read and follow directions.
- Able to work independently with little to no direction.
- Must be accurate and precise.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Promotes and models safety procedures.
- Must be prompt and reliable and able to work overtime as needed.
- Able to work with others in accomplishing tasks or goals in a team atmosphere.
- Ability to adapt quickly to new and varied job tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Access, Excel)
- Ability and willingness to work cooperatively with others.
