Description
Under general supervision, performs routine and non-routine chemical and/or metallurgical analytical tasks at assigned site.- Prepare samples for analysis/run tests using appropriate techniques and perform sample preparation for quality control program
- Perform routine chemical and/or metallurgical analysis and reporting
- Provide operation diagnostics and adjustments for tests and analytical equipment
- Maintain laboratory instrumentation and equipment; diagnose problems, calibrate and retest as appropriate; ensure lab has appropriate supplies for operation; in some locations may act as Weigh Master to receive and ship materials in SAP
- May compile, assign, and track received materials to smelter in limited locations
- Assist in laboratory personnel training
- Perform other duties as required
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- One (1) year of direct lab experience OR
- Associate's related degree which includes six (6) months of related lab experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of lab equipment, lab protocols and techniques appropriate to assigned areas
- Demonstrated ability to train others in particular area of lab
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
Preferred Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED
- Experience working in an ISO 9001/EMS14001/OHSAS 18001 environment
- Proficient in MS Excel to develop/maintain spreadsheets, reports, and other documentation
- Experience with mechanical, maintenance, and troubleshooting of lab equipment
- Experience with Atterberg testing and the ability to work with chemicals
- Leaching, mineral processing, and soil related laboratory related experience
- Experience working in a leaching lab with hydrology testing of leach samples
- Experience with triaxial equipment, sample preparation for metallurgical testing
- The ability to lift 40lbs on a daily basis
- Experience with inventory management and data analysis

- Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
- Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
- Work is in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see
- Occasionally may be required to lift, push, pull or maneuver moderately heavy objects (up to 40 pounds) during the course of the workday
- Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required
