Job Description:

As a Director, Product Manager - Core Products, you will set the direction, vision, and execution path throughout the product life cycle.  You will be responsible for driving increased revenue, profitability, and market share, including channel improvement, new product development, and technology deployment. The Director, Product Manager - Core Products will be a unique combination of a working product manager and a team leader.

This position location is remote within the USA, ideally in Northeast/Midwest US

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements global product strategies to accelerate the growth of Hitachi Global Air Power’s core product and service offering product lines.  
  • Driving a customer focused strategy, the goal is to build a dynamic team and create differentiation and achieve growth for the business. 
  • Working cross-functionally with local and global teams to successfully develop short-term and long-term strategies to strengthen the portfolio of product and service offerings. 
  • Responsible for revenue, margin, customer satisfaction, and market share objectives as well as full product life cycle including product obsolescence and discontinuation strategies to ensure positive customer experience and smooth customer transitions. 
  • Provide education and direction for all new product introductions with the team. 
  • Maintain close relationships within the organization through training and active participation in the sales process, including customer visits, participating with pricing tactics, and customer support. 
  • Driving activities and decisions focused on maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction and growing market share through innovation with purpose. 
  • Assist in identifying and developing effective product marketing and launch strategies for effective product, promotion, placement, and price offering to the customer. 

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or Equivalent
  • MBA preferred

Professional experience:

  • 8 – 10+ years product management experience managing diverse B2B product and service portfolios required
  • Proven experience in global product management in an industrial, manufacturing, capital equipment environment required
  • 5+ years leadership experience with increasing responsibility
  • Demonstrated ability to drive product portfolio optimization and achieve profitability goals
  • Portfolio planning, product rationalization, collecting Voice of Customer, Market Research, Market Strategy, Value Based Pricing
  • Strong management, project management and planning skills, and comfortable making decisions and adopting changes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills
  • Ability to work in matrix organizational structure
  • Travel: approximately 20+% globally

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • LEAN / Six Sigma Certified and / or Project Management Professional Certification
  • New product development process and / or stage-gate development process
  • Product line Profit & Loss (P&L) management experience
  • S&OP experience
  • Team management, cross functional team experience, matrix management experience
