Program Overview 

 

This internship will help those seeking to learn more about and gain experience in public relations and communications. Skills acquired during the internship will be crucial for starting out in these career paths.

 

 

Your Role 

 

The PR intern will take on research and reporting projects. For the research project, the intern will conduct a trade media competitive analysis between Mohawk and its top competitors. The intern will also develop a trade media readership survey to send to Mohawk's retail partners as a follow-up survey to the one distributed in January 2024. The purpose of these projects is to benchmark PR performance, uncover new opportunities and risks, gain insight into building our PR and advertising plans, and learn about Mohawk's trade media partners and customer trends. Deliverables, due by the end of the internship, include a report on findings from the trade media competitive analysis and results from the trade media readership survey. PR reporting projects will include updating 2024's media coverage YTD report, clip report, media inquiries spreadsheet and to develop a PR reporting email template. The purpose of the projects, which should be completed by the end of the internship, is to build media monitoring and reporting skills, measure how Mohawk is seen in the market, and identify market trends and opportunities in media pitching/communication process. Additional projects may include writing press releases and responses to media inquiries.

 

 

Qualifications 

 

Minimum 2.7 GPA

Majors: Communications, public relations, marketing, or journalism

Currently a junior or senior
