Description

North Star Radiology is seeking a friendly, organized, and detail-oriented Weekend Front Desk Medical Receptionist to join our team. This position primarily covers weekend shifts, 8am to 5pm, with the possibility of additional hours to fill in for vacations, sick days, and other clinic needs. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently while providing exceptional customer service, managing administrative tasks, and supporting a busy medical office.

Job Summary:

Under supervision of the Clinic Supervisor, the Front Desk Medical Receptionist provides front office clerical support for North Star Radiology. This position requires a highly motivated individual with superior customer service skills who understands best practices in a clinical and patient focused environment.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a liaison with patients, physicians, and radiologists.
  • Monitors patient check-in flow by communicating with clinical staff and patients to improve wait time.
  • Ensures that patient registration is complete and accurate using the Radiology Information System and PACS. This includes capturing patient demographics, referring physician and insurance, making clear copies or scans of insurance cards and correctly distributing paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Schedules patient appointments.
  • Answers phones and take messages, or forward calls to the correct personnel.
  • Organizes and prepares billing paperwork/documentation daily to send to Billing Office.
  • Communicates with Revenue Cycle Manager and assigned biller regarding patient payments and registration/insurance issues.
  • Manages retention files for documents received and stored in office (example: credit card payments and credit card batch slips).
  • Keeps lobby and coffee service clean and organized.
  • Performs opening and closing clinic office duties.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Education, Training & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience with hospital/clinic preferred.
  • Previous experience in a busy physician practice preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of medical terminology and imaging procedures preferred.
  • Knowledge of healthcare insurance procedures preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Computer literate, including ability to work with and learn new software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Radiology Information System applications.
  • Strict confidentiality and professionalism required.
  • Ability to apply written guidelines and standardized work practices, identify problems and communicate clearly.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with physicians, co-workers, patients and their families.
  • Ability to maintain patience and tact when interacting with hostile and emotionally upset patients, family members, visitors, etc.
  • Ability to coordinate work schedule with requirements of position (may include overtime).
