Intertek's Building & Construction group is composed of a suite of Intertek brands with industry leaders across multiple architecture, engineering and construction disciplines, developing the most innovative product, and project solutions. Intertek's project-related assurance, testing, inspection, and consulting (ATIC) services provide risk management and quality assurance the industry needs to ensure the reliability, safety, and performance of new developments and existing assets and facilities. 

Intertek’s Building Science Solutions (BSS) group is primarily focused on building enclosure consulting, building enclosure commissioning (BECx), and enclosure field performance testing for new construction, existing, and retrofit projects.

What are we looking for?

The Building Enclosure Project Specialist will assist project managers and senior team leadership to ensure the success of our projects during various phases of design and construction. The work will include new construction enclosure consulting and commissioning during design and construction phases, and the evaluation, investigation, and repairs for existing buildings. This position assumes participation in regular site visits and will travel frequently locally and regionally, depending on workload and project needs and locations; travel estimate is 25%-70%.

Shift/Schedule: Monday – Friday, primarily core business hours

What you’ll do:

  • Perform/assist with field performance testing and water leakage testing of roofing and waterproofing systems, windows, curtain walls, and other building elements
  • Perform construction administration services and site visits
  • Assist with/perform forensic investigations and documentation of existing conditions including wall claddings, windows, curtain wall systems, roofs, skylights, plaza waterproofing, and below grade elements, etc
  • Prepare professionally written field reports and survey documents
  • Learn to/develop skills to perform building enclosure reviews of architectural drawings, shop drawings and submittals
  • Learn/assist with remediation design of building enclosures
  • Ability to create sketches and details using AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and hand-drawn methods to convey concepts and construction documents

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management required
  • 3+ years of experience in Architecture/Design, Engineering, or Construction Management experience will be considered in lieu of the above mentioned Bachelor's Degree
  • Technical knowledge of building construction and building enclosure systems
  • Construction administration, progress observation, and site inspection experience
  • Ability to efficiently work on projects in a team environment
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
  • Consistent professional interaction and communication
  • Ability to travel frequently within and outside the local area. Estimated travel: 25%-70%
  • Fluency in English for the safe and effective performance of the job is required
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record is required

Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of building enclosure experience highly preferred
  • Degrees in Architecture & Engineering are highly preferred
  • Highly prefer individuals with experience in the greater Boston area
  • Certification for supported and suspended scaffolding
