The Role at a Glance

 

This position manages and implements assigned health & welfare benefit programs. They will contribute to the benefit strategy creation and participate in the company’s planning process to ensure benefit offerings are consistent with company’s philosophy and strategy. They will ensure programs meet employees’ needs, comply with requirements, remain competitive, and provide important oversight for compliance responsibilities related to the programs.

 

What you'll be doing

 

  • Support the design, development, implementation, communication, and administration of health & welfare benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and other voluntary benefits, to active and retired populations
  • Collaborate with management to translate business strategy into meaningful benefits strategy 
  • Identify and lead key strategic and tactical projects to streamline and optimize benefits administration and management
  • Work in partnership with external vendors and consultants to ensure the company is positioned competitively and stays current on trends/changes.
  • Ensure health & welfare plans remain in compliance with plan documents and regulatory requirements.
  • Leverage internal HR, ERISA counsel, finance, and accounting teams to ensure accuracy of administration.
  • Manage relationships with vendors, consultants, and third-party administrators to ensure efficient plan administration 
  • Identify and execute continuous improvement opportunities internally and across external vendor partners
  • Identifies and directs strategic process improvements that significantly improve quality across the team, department and/or business unit for assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Supervise the preparation of schedules and tasks for annual filings and government reporting
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and direction to a team of benefit professionals
  • Act as an internal consultant and advises the business on benefit issues and initiatives.
  • Provides subject matter expertise to team members and applicable internal/external stakeholders on complex assignments/projects for their assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Implements approved strategy decisions and contributes to strategy creation for assigned area(s) of responsibility
  • Independently handles complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues.

 

What we’re looking for

 

  • 4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's) (Minimum Required)
  • 5-7+ Years experience in health & welfare plans that directly aligns to the responsibilities of this role.  (Required)
  • Detailed knowledge of ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, DOL, and IRS regulations governing administration of benefits. (Required)
  • Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) designation (Preferred)
  • Strong presentation skills with demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders through clear, informed and logical discussions/presentations.

Pay Range: $90,300 - $164,700
