Laundry Assistant- Part Time

The following job functions have been determined as essential to the position of Laundry Assistant at Pleasant View Home. Functions are accompanied by the frequency range of performance time to complete the task per shift, or by the percentage or duration of work time per shift spent to complete the function. Because of fluctuations in work load demands, and because care-giving tasks often overlap, frequency ranges and percentages vary by assignment, day of week, day, evening, etc. However, because of the nature of the position, low frequency, percentage or duration of time spent on a particular task may not indicate lack of importance.

1. Receive and follow laundry schedule/instructions from your supervisor and/or as outlined in our established laundry service policies and procedures.

2. Collect sort and weigh soiled laundry, linen, garments, etc., and place in appropriate containers and/or assigned areas.

3. Sort soiled laundry, linen, garments, etc., and separate those items that require special stain removal/treatment.

4. Sort, count and wash soiled laundry, linen, garments, etc., as established by our operating policies and procedures and as instructed by your supervisor.

5. Press/iron garments as instructed.

6. Fold, count, stack, hang and distribute clean laundry, linen, garments, etc., as necessary.

7. During emergency conditions, ensure that clean laundry, linen, garments, etc., are distributed to designated areas.

8. Report all incidents/accidents, no matter how minor, to your supervisor immediately.

9. Report equipment malfunctions or breakdowns to your supervisor as soon as possible.

10. Report all unsafe/hazardous conditions, defective equipment, etc., to your s ' upervisor immediately.

11. Ensure linen supplies have been replenished in assigned work areas as necessary.

12. Ensure that work/laundry schedules are followed as outlined for respective shift/area.

13. Attend and participate in in-service educational classes and on-the-job training programs -

14. Attend and participate in workshops, seminars, etc., as approved.

15. Assure that your shift maintains an adequate supply of clean linen, etc., for patient comfort and convenience.

16. Assure that residents rights to fair and equitable treatment, self determination, individuality, privacy, property and civil rights, including the right wage complaints, are followed.

17. Assure that work/assignment areas are clean and equipment, supplies, etc., are properly stored before leaving such areas on breaks, end of work day, etc.

18. Keep your work area (s) free of hazardous conditions, i.e., spills, excess laundry carts, baskets, supplies, equipment, etc., to assure that all established safety rules/regulations are followed/maintained at all times.

19. Follow and maintain established procedures on cross­contamination, infectious material, etc., to assure that the highest degree of cleanliness and sanitation is maintained at all times.

1 Properly set up appropriate "Caution" and safety signs before performing laundry tasks.

2. Assure that work assignment areas are clean and that equipment, tools, supplies, etc. are properly stored during work periods, as well as before leaving the area for breaks, meals, and end of work day.

3. Turn in and/or report all lost and found items to supervisor.

4. Assist others in lifting heavy equipment, supplies, etc. as directed or requested.

5. Report scarcity of laundry supplies.

6. Clean laundry equipment, carts, washer, dryer, etc.

7. Perform terminal cleaning procedures.

8. Participate in and assist in departmental studies and projects as directed.

9. Assist with completion of appropriate forms and reports.
