Job Description
The VP, Government Affairs will have deep experience with and knowledge of government affairs as well as the ability to influence legislation and policymakers across governing bodies. The VP Government Affairs will be expected to develop a Go to Market state strategy that will allow Renaissance to gain inclusion and retention on state approved vendor lists; win and retain business from state single-vendor contracts, and enhance our ability to win district and school opportunities aligned to approved-vendor lists Renaissance has been included in.
As a VP, Government Affairs, you will:
Act as a highly-visible representative of Renaissance to the market including legislators, policymakers, professional and policy-influencing organizations, and VIP stakeholders nationally
Build relationships at the state level and with strategic Government Affairs partners across the industry
Identify revenue opportunities, forecast projected revenue and win probability, deploy resources to win, coaching team through challenges and on internal processes to drive effectiveness and win
Closely collaborate across the organization; specifically with sales leadership and teams, marketing leadership and teams, customer success leadership and teams, proposal services leadership and teams to win together.
Please note: This role will require 30% - 50% travel, typically localized within the designated states that this role covers.
Qualifications
For this role as a VP, Government Affairs, you must have:
10+ years of experience in government affairs and business development in the K-12 education technology sector
Expert knowledge of relevant policy and decision-making processes in states and Departments of Education
Expansive background interfacing with policymakers, procurement leaders, elected officials, lobbyists, and consultants in the relevant space
Successful history of working in a highly matrixed environment, leading through influence, and developing teams that are equally successful in such environments
Ability to forecast revenue state revenue (single vendor contracts and state lists) as well as probability and timing of won opportunities

Salary Range: $160,000 - 220,000 (This is the base salary range not including an incentive plan).
This range is based on national market data and may vary by experience and location.
