The VP, Sales and Service, is responsible for managing the North American sales operation, including Direct Sales, Technical Support, Field Service and Applications Development. It includes developing programs to maximize the sales and profitability of all product portfolios and developing high customer satisfaction and loyalty. This role also will be responsible for strategy development, cross-functional planning, workforce development, budgeting, and managing relationships with key functional and global leaders, particularly in Marketing and Supply Chain. The VP role identifies and nurtures talent across their team through mentoring and coaching. Lastly, this role works across our highly matrixed organization to bring harmonization, transparency and collaboration to our work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategic and tactical sales plans, leading the North American sales managers to translate strategy into motivational tactics and to ensure achievement of financial and operational goals.
- Work closely with Marketing to develop and implement strategies and tactics designed to increase awareness, drive revenue growth, and generate leads.
- Work across functions and geographies to enable Miltenyi’s ability to develop innovative products, create efficient supply chains, deliver financial results and maintain legal and regulatory compliance.
- Hire, develop and foster an effective sales team. Design, recommend and implement strategies and plans to retain productive and successful employees, working collaboratively with local, regional and global leaders to ensure that measures are effective and targeted.
- Manage the MAC Service team comprised of Field Service, Scientific Support and Applications Development to ensure excellent customer service, loyalty and sustained business.
- Stay ahead of current and emerging customer needs through understanding of their company’s imperatives, including key operating cycles, budget cycles, product development and partnership opportunities.
- Develop strong customer relationships with a focus on enhancing and maintaining knowledge of accounts for acquiring, expanding and retaining business in North America.
- Oversee sales operations, including but not limited to, establishment and execution of strategic plans, enforcement of company policy and management-generated programs, training, compliance, and assurance of good time and territory management.
- Direct sales forecasting activities and input for annual or periodic setting and analysis of sales goals, accounts and territories.
- Design, recommend and implement sales programs to drive achievement of short and long-term goals within all product areas.
- Recommend and implement sales incentive programs to motivate the sales team to achieve sales targets.
- Participate in regional, national and global strategic market analysis to continue to define potential opportunity and develop strategies to maximize sales.
- Contribute to the company’s development as a member of the management team, knowing and utilizing internal resources, working with other members of the Management team, assuming responsibility for the overall company quality and customer satisfaction, maintaining and promoting company excellence and professionalism.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree focused on biology, immunology, or other life sciences. MBA. Solid experience in handling issues involving financial budgeting and forecasting, supply chain, research & development, and production.
- Minimum of 15 years’ experience in sales in a scientific-based organization, preferably life sciences.
- Minimum of 8 years' experience leading a sales organization in the life sciences environment. Demonstrated experience in identifying talent, mentoring high performers, creating a learning environment, and enabling change.
- Must have successful track record in managing all sales operations including Field Service, Technical Support, Applications Support, Applications Development, and driving business results through multiple channels.
- Must have successful track record of working globally in a matrixed organization, influencing without authority, and building relationship cross-culturally.
- Must possess a valid driver's license, evidence of insurance/ insurability and ability to receive appropriate clearance to access restricted government accounts.
- National and international travel up to 80%. Role is based in or near the Gaithersburg, MD geographic area.
