POSITION: Head Men’s Golf Coach

SUPERVISOR: Director of Athletics/Assistant Vice President of Athletics

DEPARTMENT:  Athletics
 

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

The Head Men’s Golf Coach is responsible for all aspects of the Men’s Golf program, including (but not limited to) practice and game preparation, recruitment and retention of quality student-athletes, hiring and supervision of assistant coach(es), budget management, fundraising, scheduling, public relations, community service, and strict adherence to all NCAA Division II, GMAC Conference, and Tiffin University rules, policies and procedures. This is a 12-month full-time position; flexibility with hours is needed.

Requirements

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directed the Men's Golf program's planning, organizing, and coaching.
  • Provide leadership and instruction in the personal and athletic development of student-athletes.
  • Direct and coordinate the activities of the Men’s golf program, including the planning, organizing, and coaching of the team; ensure compliance with University, GMAC Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Counsel team members in academic, disciplinary, and personal matters; consult university administration and faculty to resolve problems as needed.
  • Direct and oversee golf recruitment of quality student-athletes.
  • Determine fiscal requirements and prepare budgetary recommendations; monitor, verify, and reconcile expenditures of budgeted funds (operating budget and recruitment budget)
  • Study, evaluate, and implement innovations in golf strategy and equipment.
  • Develop and coordinate fundraising activities.
  • Maintain a solid professional relationship with Mohawk Golf Club (home golf course).
  • Supervise, schedule, and maintain on-campus practice facility.
  • Assist with the TU Athletic Department golf outing.
  • Active involvement in professional, civic, charitable, and alumni events.
  • Represent Tiffin University Athletic Department with class and professionalism.
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/ABILITIES FOR THE JOB

Education

  • Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.

Experience

  • Three years of golf coaching experience at the high school or college level.

Other

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A record of integrity and leadership.
  • A willingness to advance the goals of the Tiffin University Department of Athletics, including fundraising and a commitment to the success and graduation of student-athletes. 
  • Working knowledge of golf and all its teaching functions is strongly desired. 
  • Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
