Job Description

The Summer Student Assignments Assistant supports the Summer Conference Team in the management of clients’ portfolios, room placements, and communication with our Summer Conference Clients. This position is ideal for students interested in student affairs, higher education operations, or administrative support. Key responsibilities include assisting with room placements, drafting communications and materials, and preparing key envelopes for our clients. This role also serves as a backup for the front desk team and supports housing tours as needed. 

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the placements of our summer conference client portfolio account.  

  • Help update and maintain client’s housing records and databases. Create summer conference client’s labels & key envelopes to be ready for check in. Assist with the check in process for our Summer Conference Clients

  • Draft and review housing communications such as email templates, FAQs, and guides with a client-focused tone

  • Answer client inquiries regarding housing applications, placements, and timelines in person, via phone, and email

  • Serve as a backup for the front desk team, greeting visitors, answering phones, and helping with general housing inquiries

  • Assist with writing up assignments for summer staff

  • Summer staff training support

  • Support office projects for summer conferences and other duties as assigned

  • Act as a backup tour guide for prospective students and their families

  • Help promote a positive and welcoming environment during housing tours

Required Qualifications 

  • Candidate must be enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno

  • Candidate must be a full-time student in good standing 

  • Candidate must maintain and semester GPA of 2.50 or higher throughout employment 

  • Candidate must maintain 30 credits of coursework per academic year or an average of 15 credits per semester 

  • Candidate must have a minimum of 2 semesters of college or university full-time status 

  • Candidate must have the ability to handle at least 15 credits per semester while balancing student leadership responsibilities 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a student-first mindset

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism

  • Familiarity with or willingness to learn Microsoft Office, StarRez, or other housing systems

  • Creative thinker with an interest in improving the student experience
