Job Overview

As the Lead Data Analyst / Scientist, you will spearhead Net Power’s engineering data strategy execution, driving the development of advanced analytics, AI/ML models, and data pipelines using the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem (Power BI, Synapse, Data Factory, OneLake). You will play a strategic role in shaping data-driven insights that impact corporate strategy, engineering and innovation.

This lead position combines hands-on technical development with cross-functional collaboration and mentoring of business users and engineers.

This role requires a dedicated focus on the cleaning, reduction, and analysis of process plant testing data.  You will be responsible for developing reports, designing dashboards, investigating test data to support failure analysis, developing algorithms, performing data reduction and analysis of extensive industrial facility test data.


This position can be based at our office in Houston, TX or at our demonstration facility in La Porte, TX.  Net Power offers a hybrid work schedule, 3 days in the office and 2 days remote.  

 

Key Responsibilities Included but are not limited to: 

  • Architect and lead the development of data models, analytics solutions, and AI/ML models using Microsoft Fabric.
  • Oversee scalable data pipelines for ingesting, transforming, and integrating diverse datasets from operations, engineering, and corporate functions.
  • Support test planning and test reviews using tools and techniques developed to monitor and quantify test results.
  • Develop predictive analytics to enhance power plant efficiency, and predictive maintenance.
  • Lead the design and delivery of executive-ready Power BI dashboards and self-service analytics tools.
  • Implement and enforce data governance, data quality standards, and security protocols in compliance with SOX, NERC/FERC, and industry best practices.
  • Partner with business, engineering, and innovation teams to define data priorities and reports aligned to the company’s strategic goals.
  • Transition existing reports from Excel, Python and other uncontrolled data sources to a controlled Power BI delivery model. 
  • Manage algorithm configuration using Git or other revision control tools. 
  • Familiar with configuration control methods for data, algorithms, and reports. 
  • Guide and mentor business users in data science methodologies and Microsoft Fabric best practices.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies in AI, ML, and the Microsoft ecosystem to continually evolve Net Power’s data capabilities.

 

Required Education and Experience:

  • Solid knowledge of industrial processes, oil and gas facilities, and / or power generation plants is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience performing analysis of large-scale test data sets. 8+ years relevant experience is preferred. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science or related field required. Master’s degree in engineering, Computer Science or related field is preferred. 
  • Strong experience in data engineering. 
  • Proficiency in Power BI, Python, and Matlab. 
  • Experience with Python/R is a plus.
  • Experienced with MS Fabric, Tensorflow, AI, Machine Learning, and tools to deeply analyze large data sets for patterns and insights is preferred.

  • Work effectively in an office or plant site environment.
  • Operate at a computer and sit for long periods of time.
  • Repeat motions that may include the wrists, hands, or fingers.
  • Position is sedentary with occasional light lifting.
