Overview:
The Client Manager works with the Producer or Client Executive to implement a client’s benefits strategy and service the account. The Client Manager is responsible for marketing as well as day-to-day client management and support. The CM’s responsibilities include plan marketing, analysis of renewal designs and alternatives, preparing communication materials, conducting open enrollment meetings, collecting and preparing compliance materials, and servicing the day-to-day needs of the client.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Service
• Perform responsibilities as needed to support business operations.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for client service needs, fostering strong and lasting business relationships.
• Collaborate with clients, producers, and team members to develop and implement a comprehensive customer service strategy.
• Prepare and present Requests for Proposal (RFPs) to carriers or marketing managers for large clients, including detailed analysis of census data, benefit plan designs, market comparisons, and contribution strategies.
• Partner with the Client Executive (CE) to negotiate competitive premiums, commissions, and coverage options with carriers on behalf of clients.
• Oversee and facilitate open enrollment meetings, ensuring the effective preparation and distribution of communication materials.
• Participate in client facing meetings such strategy, renewal, open enrollment etc.
• Review coverage contracts thoroughly to verify accuracy and alignment with policy provisions.
• Lead new carrier and plan implementations across the book of business, ensuring seamless transitions.
• Ensure accuracy in claims experience and utilization reports, providing oversight and review for compliance.
• Maintain and uphold data integrity within the agency management system.
• Distribute key resource information to clients, keeping them informed on benefit trends, as well as state and federal legislation, regulations, and compliance requirements.
• Provide expert guidance on government reporting compliance issues.
• Assist in the development and customization of client-specific compliance resources.
Personal and Organizational Development
• Set priorities and manage workflow for self to ensure all goals are met;
• Maintain up-to-date proposals, workflow logs, update all benefits information on agency management system, manuals or other required documentation and records;
• Interact with others effectively utilizing good communication skills, cooperating purposefully, and providing information and guidance as needed to achieve the business goals of the Company;
• Stay informed regarding industry information, new product/program developments, coverages, legislation, technology to continuously improve knowledge and performance;
• Project a professional image in action and appearance.
KEY COMPETENCIES:
• Full knowledge of Employee Benefits lines of coverage and services;
• Advanced knowledge of navigating the Internet as well as various Microsoft Office programs to include Windows, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher and Excel;
• Strong attention to detail and time management abilities;
• Strong ability to multi-task and assign priorities;
• Ability to work effectively and efficiently both with and without direct supervision;
• Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a team environment as well as independently;
• Strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and oral;
• Demonstrated experience with Agency Management Systems, rating procedures, coverages, and industry operations to effectively manage, maintain, and write assigned clients and prospects.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
• High school diploma; college degree preferred;
• Two or more years experience as an Associate with a benefits consulting or brokerage firm, or comparable experience with a medical carrier;
• Must have working knowledge of a variety of Microsoft Office computer software applications to include Excel, Word, and presentation software;
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands;
• Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. The position continually requires teamwork, demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy.

• California Life and Health License;
