About the role

 

Join Behavioral Health of the Palm Beaches, a proud addition of Banyan Treatment Centers, a leading force in addiction recovery, as we seek a part-time Cook to support the food services department in providing meals in a residential treatment setting. 

 

Position Details: 

  • Schedule: Part-time, 24-28 hours per week.
  • Location: On-site presence required in Lake Worth, FL.

Essential Functions:

  • Collaborate with Managing Cher to create balanced and nutritious meal plans that meet the dietary needs of residents.
  • Plan menus that accommodate any dietary restrictions or special requirements of individuals based on health conditions, allergies, or cultural preferences.
  • Oversee the preparation and cooking of meals according to established recipes and portion sizes.
  • Ensure that food is cooked safely, maintaining proper temperatures and hygiene standards.
  • Monitor food quality and make adjustments as necessary to meet standards.
  • Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and training as needed.
  • Maintain inventory levels, order supplies, and manage the storage of food items to minimize waste and ensure freshness.
  • Adhere to budgetary constraints while maintaining quality standards.
  • Enforce strict hygiene and sanitation practices in the kitchen, following local health department regulations.
  • Monitor the cleanliness of kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas.
  • Conduct regular safety training for kitchen staff and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
  • Communicate effectively with other staff members to coordinate meal schedules and address any special dietary needs or concerns.
  • Collaborate with dietitians, healthcare professionals, and facility administrators to address specific dietary requirements for residents with medical conditions.
  • Be flexible and able to adapt to changes in the menu, dietary requirements, or the number of residents.
  • Handle unexpected situations or emergencies in the kitchen with composure and efficiency.
  • Implement quality control measures to ensure that meals meet established standards for taste, appearance, and nutritional content.
  • Solicit feedback from residents and staff to continually improve the quality of meals and dining experiences.
  • Provide ongoing training for kitchen staff, keeping them informed about new recipes, cooking techniques, and safety protocols.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment within the kitchen.
  • Maintain accurate records of menus, inventory, and any incidents related to food safety or dietary concerns.
  • Assist in the documentation required for regulatory compliance and audits.
  • Interact with residents in a positive and respectful manner, addressing any concerns or special requests related to meals.
