Our Electrical Systems Responsibility Center (ESRC) Fabrication Production Engineering Team is looking for a qualified E&TE to join the ESRC Equipment and Tool Engineering team. Within this position you will lead a team of equipment and tool engineers. This opportunity requires creative thinking to implement speedy solutions to production tooling and equipment issues. The ideal candidate would have strong CATIA design skills, familiar with checking drawings, and must have a strong desire to grow the team’s technical skills. This position requires excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) with teammates, managers, stakeholders. The candidate must be capable of discussing difficult technical issues effectively. Primary Responsibilities:
This is an Equipment and Tool Designer Lead position, supporting sustaining, development, implementation, and improvement role. Your duties will include (but are not limited to):
- Provides engineering expertise and guidance within ESRC Tooling and Equipment Engineering team.
- Advise on the right engineering approach and help resolve technical risks and issues.
- Represent/Lead group in technical discussions with management and other organizations.
- Coach, train, and mentor team members.
- Manages tool engineering work packages which are offloaded to design suppliers and jointly supports technical inquiries that arise during tool manufacture.
- Work in a cross-functional team alongside specialists from manufacturing, quality, safety, post-production services, product development, suppliers, and vendors
- Contribute to the effectiveness of the organization by communicating, collaborating, teaching, and mentoring others.
- Participates in tool/equipment try-outs to ensure requirements are met.
- Investigates Design Engineering changes and initiates action to maintain engineering configuration.
- Validates contractual performance milestones.
- Develops program and project requirements, develops complex equipment and tooling concepts and designs solutions for the Production System.
- Develops complex data package (e.g., usage instructions, procurement information, test plan, etc.) to satisfy design release requirements.
- Ensures compliance with safety, producibility, maintainability, reliability, ergonomic factors and regulatory requirements.
- Leads gated reviews and develops plans for production readiness, preventative maintenance and spares.
- Coordinates with Aircraft Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering on tool interfaces.
- Executes project plans, provides input to Make/Buy decisions and partners with Procurement to meet program schedule, cost and quality targets.
Work Authorization Statement:
The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
- Minimum 3 years of experience with production systems in a manufacturing or production environment
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- 5 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. (Senior)
- 3 or more years of experience working in a Tool Engineering or Designer role.
- 3 or more years of experience working in a production environment.
- 3 or more years of CATIA or equivalent solid modeling experience.
- 2 or more years checking and releasing tool drawings.
