Who are we?
Pacific Defense, a small fast-growing company that develops and provides advanced multi-function RF systems for the U.S. Department of Defense, is looking for a Lead Systems Engineer to lead our Communications Modem Development engineering team. As a member of the Pacific Defense group of companies, our growth is accelerating.
Pacific Defense designs and builds advanced, military standards-based, modular open systems architecture (MOSA) systems. These systems conform to the Army's C4ISR Modular Open Suite of Standards (CMOSS) and the Air Force's Sensor Open Systems Architecture (SOSA) Standard. These CMOSS /SOSA systems are used for multi-mission electronic warfare, tactical communications, signals intelligence, cyber-EW, high-performance computing, and often simultaneous operation of these capabilities.

Who are we looking for (are you this person)?
Are you a talented and enthusiastic Lead Systems Engineer with outstanding technical, organizational, and communication skills? Will you thrive in our small, elite team? Our high-performance computing systems are used for a variety of applications such as signals intelligence, secure/covert digital communications, threat detection, RF jammers, and radio direction finding. To build these systems, we utilize state-of-the-art hardware components including the latest FPGAs, SoCs, GPUs, and advanced software and firmware techniques that allow intuitive command and control of systems as well as data collection and processing. With such a wide variety of domains, career stagnation would not be a problem. You will be encouraged to work outside of the typical barriers of larger traditional defense companies.

Requirements
Here is what you bring to the table:
- Ability to work with limited supervision or lead a small technical group independently
- Support in the Development of Communications systems product roadmaps.
- Decompose the system architecture into consumable tasks for engineering teams.
- U.S. Secret security clearance is strongly preferred (must be willing to obtain a clearance otherwise)
- 12+ years experience with 5 + years of Communication Systems experience
- Cost and Schedule Generation
- Excellent communication skills
- Interface with suppliers to provide the best value technical solutions
- Write test plans and procedures.
- Manage project deliverables meeting cost/schedule objectives.
Specific Domain Expertise Desired
Analog realm:
- Non-linearity distortion in receivers i.e., IP2/IP3 points
- Receiver Dynamic Range
- Receiver Conversion Gain and Sensitivity
- Automatic Gain Control Algorithms
- ADCs and DACs
- Phase Noise / Clock Jitter
- Noise Figure
Digital realm:
- Modulation Formats
- Decimation Filters
- Red/Black Architectures
- Experience with the NSA certification process
- Experience with Waveform porting
- Ability to understand languages such as C, C++, Python, VHDL/Verilog
- Experience with ARM and Xilinx MPSoC
Education
- Minimum requirement: BS in EE, CS, or relevant discipline
- MS in EE, CS, or a relevant discipline preferred.
