JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Department of Materials Science and Engineering in the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences at The Pennsylvania State University is accepting applications for an undergraduate researcher position.
Responsibilities:
- The student researcher will be asked to assist in building an electro-optic setup and help characterize new optical crystals.
- The successful applicants will assist in our work to develop new nonlinear optical crystals and report them through peer reviewed publications to support ongoing research efforts.
- The position will require in-person attendance; there is no remote component.
- Data management and computer-based data analysis skills (e.g., Matlab, Python,
- Mathematica) are required.
- A background in physics, materials science or any relevant branch of engineering is desired.
- The ability to work independently is required.
- Strong communication skills are also required to support collaborative work.
