About the role:
Gartner is recruiting for a Senior Director Analyst candidate with extensive experience in state and/or local government – with significant time in human and social services (such as Children and Family Services, Mental Health and Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities or Aging) - who can deliver objective, actionable insight to senior business and IT executives in government organizations related to the management and use of technology in driving improved mission outcomes as well as to government technology and service providers.
Gartner analysts are industry thought leaders who create must-have research, market predictions and best practices for a broad range of world-leading organizations. A Senior Director Analyst serves as a contributor and leader within Gartner’s Research and Advisory organization, establishing themselves as a credible voice by providing expert guidance and assistance to government leaders to enable faster, smarter decisions and stronger performance on an organization's most critical priorities.
What you will do:
Develop, contextualize and deliver insightful and actionable research content primarily for CIOs and other executives in state and/or local government human and social services organizations on a variety of topics, including digital and IT strategy, sector-specific IT solutions, and emerging technologies.
Drive compelling interactions via inquiries, remote and in-person briefings and conferences on a variety of IT topics aligned with your areas of coverage, primarily targeting government CIOs and the other government executives and IT leaders.
Advise industry providers of technologies and services of interest to government.
Conduct research by reading, networking with clients, vendors and analysts, evaluating and analyzing information and participating in research meetings and other activities which comprise the Gartner research process.
Provide exceptional sales and service delivery support by engaging with prospective and existing clients virtually or face-to face and by delivering impactful insight based on client needs.
Become a regular commentator to primary international media about technology trends that are of interest to government executives in the specific sectors.
What you will need:
12+ years’ experience working as a Chief Information Officer or an information technology leader in one or several government organizations in the human and social services.
Desired experience would also include roles in other state and/or local government organizations, such as the justice and public safety sector or experience in a product leader role for a technology service provider working with state and/or local government.
Bachelor's degree in related field; Masters preferred - and/or relevant qualifications and/or relevant experience.
Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment.
Strong organizational skills; ability to work under tight deadlines and produce high quality deliverables
Demonstrate excellence in research and writing ability
Strong written and verbal proficiency, analytical and presentation skills; ability to engage clients and respond effectively to questions
Proficient in analyzing and synthesizing data; can effectively apply patterns and frameworks while drawing and defending conclusions to client challenges
Strong communicator who can explain complex concepts concisely and simply
