Key Components:
This position is reserved for Federal Work Study (FWS) students only. This position is ideal for students passionate about fashion, design, or theatrical arts, providing real-world experience in costume design and management.
- In a student employee capacity, may assist in working with external community service partners.
- Help design, create, and alter costumes for various productions.
- Manage the organization and maintenance of the costume inventory and create a photo map and directory to help casts replace costumes in storage in the correct places.
- Assist actors with quick changes and costume fittings during performances.
- Work closely with the costume designer to bring creative visions to life.
- Ensure all costumes are cleaned and stored properly after shows.
Job Description:
- Work with local organization(s) or community partners
- Provide excellent customer service as a representative of the University
- May assist with planning, organizing, and implementing community services or programs
- May assist with various projects, activities or tasks related to community projects
- May contribute to developing and maintaining good relationships with internal and external partners
- May serve as a source to provide information about resources and assistance related to community program(s) or service(s)
- May serve to enhance outreach for the greater Waco community
- Ensure confidentiality of all pertinent information
- May prepare and present information in a group or workshop setting
- Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor’s mission
- Ability to comply with University policies
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance
Required Hard / Specialized Skills:
- Basic Sewing Skills
- Basic Knowledge of Garment Construction
- Costume Maintenance (cleaning, steaming, organizing)

Learning Outcomes:
- Costume Construction & Maintenance – Develop skills in basic sewing, alterations, and fabric care for stage costumes.
- Fabric & Textile Knowledge – Understand different materials and their uses in costume design and maintenance.
- Time Management & Efficiency – Develop the ability to complete alterations, fittings, and repairs within production deadlines.
- Creative Thinking & Styling – Explore how to adapt and modify costumes to fit a character’s look or the director’s vision.
