Position Summary

The Associate Director, Enterprise Digital Operations, is a vital role in Flagship’s Digital Ecosystem. In collaboration with program/product owners in HQ IT Ops/Engineering/Cloud Ops/Security, this role leads the management and oversight of Infrastructure Service Tower and Laboratory IT services. The scope of responsibility encompasses Core Stack/Research Science system management, system administration, facilities moves/modifications, and vendor/external partner management.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Special Projects Management: Lead and oversee the execution of special projects including mergers, acquisitions, major transitions, and facilities moves/modifications. Ensure alignment with existing playbooks.
  2. Infrastructure Service Tower Management: In conjunction with HQ IT Ops/Engineering/Cloud Ops/Security, manage the Infrastructure Service Tower, including Communications & Collaboration Services, Risk Management, Compliance, Privacy, and Security.
  3. Laboratory IT Support: In conjunction with the Lab IT Team, manage and support solutions related to Laboratory IT, such as AWS Storage Gateway, Laboratory Data Transfer, Data Management, Benchling ELN, LIMS systems, ensuring alignment with laboratory and research needs.
  4. Core Stack/Research Science System Management: Working with the leads in Enterprise Digital Launch and Enterprise Digital Growth: Lead the administration and management of Core Stack and Research Science systems, aligning them with the company's scientific and business objectives.
  5. Vendor Management: Coordinate with various vendors and external partners during mergers, moves, and other significant projects. Assess, select, and manage vendors to ensure that they comply with all project requirements.
  6. Operational Excellence: Maintain high-level operational efficiency in all digital operations, including early-stage data science, engineering, and computational biology functions.
  7. Technology and System Oversight: Ensure that the technology stack, including bioinformatics tools and platforms, is optimally configured and aligned with the company's objectives.
  8. Compliance and Security: Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards, work closely with the Information Security team to maintain data integrity and security.
  9. Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with other Associate Directors, Directors, and program/product owner teams to ensure alignment and efficient execution of all operations.
  10. Reporting and Analysis: Regularly report on project status and metrics, providing insights and recommendations to improve performance.

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum of 8 years' experience in IT operations role, with at least 3 years in Biotech or Pharma.
  2. Proven experience in managing Laboratory IT, including AWS Storage Gateway, Laboratory Data Transfer, Data Management, Benchling ELN, LIMS systems.
  3. Solid knowledge in business systems requirements, roadmaps, and operations in a Biotech setting – including manufacturing & clinical systems.
  4. Experience with Identity management systems, e.g., Okta.
  5. Proficiency in SAAS applications, e.g., 0365, Zoom, Slack, etc.
  6. Understanding of cloud computing, networking, and information security.
  7. Demonstrable experience with bioinformatics tools such as BLAST, BioPython, Galaxy, GenBank, R, and Bioconductor.
  8. Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship management skills.
  9. Degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or another related field is desirable.
  10. Knowledge of data management best practices, specifically in a biotechnology or life sciences context.
  11. Exceptional project management skills, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  12. Vendor management experience is a plus.
