Summary

The Senior Staff Engineer, Electrical Design develops new electrical systems/circuits for various products. We are looking for a candidate onsite in Maple Grove with delivering New Product Development experience to external customers. Researches system ideas and draw up plans for these systems, capturing them in specifications and detailed designs. Plan, simulate, test, validate and qualify their designs and make adjustments as needed. Provide support throughout the manufacturing of the electrical products they have designed.  This engineer works in global cross-functional teams with customers, other designers, manufacturing engineering and project leadership to ensure robust and high-quality product development.  The position is part of a global engineering services organization, with local leadership and integration with an expansive network of engineers.  Activity will include direct onsite development and delivery, and support of project opportunities connected to the extended network of global sites. 

Experience with the relevant product technologies and development processes in the Aerospace and Defense segment are an important asset. Celestica’s broad customer base will also provide opportunities to lead or support test development projects for customers in other end markets such as Industrial, Smart Energy, and Healthtech.

Detailed Description

This team member is part of a global design and development engineering organization, and they will interface regularly with other local and regional teams to deliver best-in-class engineering solutions.

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

  • Lead the design, development and implementation of technical solutions in multiple domains. Participate in project planning and scheduling.
  • Provide technical leadership and direction to a team of engineers. Must be a recognized expert (go to person) in one or more technical areas
  • Review, interpret and negotiate customer requirements/specifications and provide customer feedback
  • Lead the deployment of strategic programs and coordinate site-wide deployment efforts.
  • Proactively promote industry best practices
  • May manage relationships with key vendors/partners.
  • Design, modify and implement systems that meet customer and Celestica needs. E.g. creation of Schematics, Bills of material, diagrams, drawings, etc.
  • Testing, simulation and measuring (including troubleshooting) the performance of systems
  • Keep up to date with relevant industry knowledge and regulations
  • Solve complex problems
  • Liaison with suppliers, customers, contractors, and other internal teams.
  • Analyze and interpret data and information
  • Recommend modifications for systems
  • Create reports and documentation
  • May be a recognized expert (go to person) in one or more technical areas.
  • Must effectively mentor junior level engineers.

  • Project Management - Ability to manage/lead complex, multiple line engineering projects that may also involve other functions. Demonstrate solid understanding of the technical, financial and people aspects of the project. Able to create a project/change management plan and ensure that the project is delivered within the assigned time and budget. Ability to recognize project barriers and develop mitigation plan

  • Customer Management – This is a customer facing role with high interaction expected with major customers. The ability to communicate complex technical information effectively to customer leadership and engineers is paramount.
