Job Description
NBCUniversal Advertising Products & Solutions (AP&S) is responsible for the product development and project management of NBCUniversal’s full advertising technology suite. From sales support to campaign execution, delivery, and billing, our division services both internal and external customers in support of NBCUniversal’s $7B+ annual advertising business. Together, we’re building the platform that powers the future of advertising at NBCU.
We are seeking a Director, Platform Operations & Delivery to lead the operational "engine" of our Data Platform. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Data Platform Operations, you will manage a team of high-performing Data Engineers responsible for the reliability, scalability, and security of our data collaboration ecosystem. In this leadership role, you will own the delivery lifecycle for all external data integrations, ensuring that the team produces high-quality results on time, within budget (FinOps), and with strict adherence to privacy and security standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
The person in this role will:
- Lead, mentor, and scale the Platform Operations & Delivery team. Foster a culture of operational excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Manage capacity planning for incoming requests.
- Serve as the primary technical point of escalation for external partners (e.g., Measurement Vendors, Retail Partners) and technology vendors (Snowflake, LiveRamp, Databricks), driving resolution on critical roadmap blockers or incidents.
- Oversee the end-to-end provisioning process for Data Clean Rooms. Transition ad-hoc setups into repeatable, automated patterns (Infrastructure as Code) to support rapid partner onboarding.
- Define and enforce Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for data availability and freshness.
- Establish "Gold Standard" operating procedures for privacy checks, identity resolution and library deployments within environments.
- Own the compute and storage budget for the Operations pillar. Shift from reactive monitoring to proactive forecasting of Snowflake and Databricks spend.
- Lead cost-optimization initiatives to refactor expensive pipelines, optimize warehouse sizing, and maximize ROI.
- Provide architectural guidance on complex integrations (e.g., choosing between Native Apps vs. Data Sharing vs. Iceberg Tables) to ensure long-term maintainability.
- Build a "DevOps culture" focused on automation, observability, and continuous improvement.
- Implement InfoSec requirements.
- Design and build internal AI Agents (using frameworks like LangChain, Snowflake Cortex, or LangGraph) to automate complex manual workflows and tasks.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
- Leadership Experience: 10+ years of experience in Data Engineering or Platform Operations, with 4+ years in a people management role leading technical teams.
- Demonstrated success in managing 24/7 production data environments and overseeing incident management processes.
- Strategic experience with Ad Tech / Marketing Tech ecosystems (Measurement, Identity, Clean Rooms) and partner interoperability.
- Proven ability to partner with Product and Business leaders to translate business requirem
