Job Description
The WNC Art Gallery Student Worker assists with the operations of the gallery and supports exhibitions, events, and promotional activities. This position provides students with hands-on experience in gallery administration, exhibition preparation, arts marketing, and event coordination while contributing to a welcoming and professional gallery environment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Maintain and update gallery inventory lists for artwork, supplies, and exhibition materials
Assist with the installation and deinstallation of exhibitions, including handling artwork, labeling, lighting, and preparing gallery spaces
Support gallery events by helping with setup, attendance monitoring, guest assistance, and breakdown/cleanup
Create and post exhibition marketing materials for social media, bulletin boards, campus announcements, and other communication platforms
Maintain exhibition attendance logs and assist with visitor tracking and reporting
Perform basic administrative and clerical tasks such as filing, organizing materials, answering questions, and maintaining gallery records
Help maintain a clean, organized, and professional gallery environment
Ability to lift and move artwork, display materials, and supplies safely (with guidance/training provided)
Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications:
Current WNC student in good academic standing
Interest in art, design, museums, galleries, or arts administration preferred
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Basic computer and social media skills
