Based in Huntsville, AL, this role is essential to supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at the strategic, regional, and operational levels.
This position does not provide relocation assistance and requires on-site work with no remote options.
Position Overview:
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is integral to the Missile Defense System. It allows the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at various levels to plan missile defense operations, track battles, and dynamically control networked sensors and weapons to meet global and regional objectives. C2BMC supports layered missile defenses, enabling quick, appropriate responses to threats at all ranges and flight stages. It acts as a force multiplier by connecting, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems worldwide, enhancing overall performance. Additionally, C2BMC is crucial for all ground and flight tests that validate and showcase the current and future capabilities of the missile defense system.
This position is for a Software Engineer on the C2BMC program. The candidate will be responsible for Java software development for Systems Architecture (Sys-Ar), a Regional Applications team in Huntsville, AL. Under minimal direction, the candidate will provide specialized expertise across multiple systems and software disciplines, as well as general knowledge of related disciplines, application implications, and customer areas.
Essential Functions:
Responsible for in-depth analysis and technical support of systems software products, including complex problem resolution, design, development, testing, operational integration, and user support
Maintains currency, debugs, and configures related software products
Works from specifications to develop or modify operating system applications
Assists with design, coding, benchmark testing, debugging, and documentation of programs
Interfaces with other system support groups to resolve problems, set standards, and improve the overall efficiency of the operating system
Designs, codes, tests, and implements tools for operations automation
Works on most phases of software systems programming applications and may require minor instruction and guidance in other phases
Leadership roles on small, software-focused teams may be required
Must possess strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced team setting
Basic Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university, along with 8 years of experience; or a Master’s degree in a related field with 6 years of relevant work experience; or 12 years of relevant work experience may be considered as an alternative to a degree
Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start
Applicants must have a current, active DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (such as Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, CySA+, CND, etc.) at the time of application, which is required to start. The candidate is responsible for maintaining their DoD 8140 certification throughout the entire contract period
