Department Overview
As part of the Department of Neurology, the Division of Stroke and Vascular Neurology encompasses the spectrum of OHSU's missions of scientific research, comprehensive clinic care, and education of professional and patient populations, with the ultimate goal of improving patient outcomes. This division consistently has 20+ active clinical trials and several more in various stages of study start-up. The team consists of five physicians, one nurse practitioner, 5 clinical research coordinators, one regulatory coordinator and two clinical research assistants.
Function/Duties of Position
The Research Data Analyst works closely with the RN Stroke Program Manager and Stroke Hospital Director to extract, input, prepare and analyze data for presentation to the Stroke Advisory Committee. This position audits the data and reports to the Stroke Hospital Director for real time corrections. The Research Data Analyst will collaborate with the clinical research team to ensure all components of the clinical trials are complete. This position will have opportunities to work directly with patients during clinical trial visits, assisting the front desk and assessing disability via phone.
Get With The Guidelines (GWTG):
- Create patient list for previous month stroke admissions. Extract data and enter in data to the AHA Get With the Guidelines database. Audit and analyze data to present to the Stroke Advisory Committee meeting
- Identify misses and report to RN Stroke Program Manager
- Call patients for 90-day mRS assessment and document results
- Work with the RN Stroke Program Manager to prepare for the Stroke Advisory Committee meeting and keep meeting notes
Other related research responsibilities:
- Data Entry
- Screening potential study participants
- Requesting outside imaging and records to upload to databases
- Assist in arranging and performing research visits by scheduling and rooming research participants, processing and shipping specimens, perform ECGs and retrieving investigational product from Research Pharmacy
Other responsibilities:
- Assist with checking in and rooming patients during Friday clinic
- Placing Zio Patch heart monitors
- Additional duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in relevant field OR
- Associate’s AND 2 years of relevant experience OR
- Equivalent combination of training and experience
- Customer/people-oriented experience
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Commitment to working in a team environment
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Highly organized and able to work independently
- Strong attention to detail
- Problem solving skills
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changes in the day-to-day workflow
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation
Preferred Qualifications
- Data management/entry
- Patient experience
- Familiarity with clinical research and medical terminology
Additional Details
- Typical schedule: M-F, 8 am to 4:30 pm
- Work schedule may vary depending on job/study requirements
- Primary location is on Marquam Hill
- Travel between Waterfront and Marquam Hill
- Exposure to human tissues and fluids
- May have regular exposure to noise and interruptions
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
