Job Summary: Westwin Elements is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team at the Nickel Refinery Plant. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and overseeing mechanical systems and components for our refinery operations and providing input to EPC partners to ensure plant standards are maintained during design. This role requires a deep understanding of mechanical engineering principles, understanding of applicable codes, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Development: Size and design mechanical equipment for chemical processing systems and components, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations. This includes tanks, pressure vessels, other misc., static equipment, rotating equipment, heat transfer equipment, etc.
  • Project Management: Lead mechanical engineering efforts on projects from concept to completion, including planning, budgeting, and scheduling.
  • Testing and Analysis: Conduct, review, and approve design calculations related to pipe stress, equipment sizing, material selection, etc., to validate the performance and reliability of mechanical systems.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other engineering disciplines, project managers, engineering consulting partners, and contractors to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Problem-Solving: Identify and resolve mechanical issues that arise during design, development, and production phases.
  • Documentation: Prepare detailed engineering reports, drawings, and specifications for mechanical components.
  • Compliance: Ensure all mechanical designs meet regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Innovation: Stay updated with the latest advancements in mechanical engineering and incorporate innovative solutions into projects.
  • Work with process engineers to size and design equipment specifications for chemical processing systems
  • Review and oversee piping design with Senior Pipe Designers
  • Develop and maintain plant piping specifications
  • Develop, review and approve design calculations related to pipe stress, equipment sizing, material election, etc

 

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably within the refinery or heavy industrial sectors.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in mechanical design software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and analysis tools (e.g., ANSYS, MATLAB).
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead and mentor junior engineers and project teams.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
