What You Will Do
The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) position presents a physician perspective at the senior management level, represents and communicates administrative positions to and from the medical staff, and provides support and continuity to the medical staff organization and functions. This position provides medical leadership in collaboration with the senior management team and interfaces with the medical staff to further the clinical goals and strategic objectives of the hospital. The position champions the Quality and Patient Safety priorities for the hospital. Enhances communication in both directions between Medical Staff and Administration. Attends Medical Staff Committee meetings as assigned to interact with the chair and committee members, provide administrative input and support, and resolve Medical Staff/ Administrative issues or facilitate a timely resolution. • Participates in Executive and Medical Staff meetings to provide physician presence and input into the strategic and operational discussions and deliberations. • Acts as liaison for operational issues impacting the medical staff. • Focuses on aligning and engaging medical staff in efforts to deliver the highest standard of medical care. • Participates in development and implementation of systems and processes that ensure the highest quality of patient care, safety, and evidence based care across all disciplines and the hospital. • Represents the hospital in a professional, competent manner in the community, state, region, and national meetings. • Provides leadership and accountability in achieving system and hospital vision, quality, safety, financial and operations goals and targets.
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD)
- 10 Years of clinical experience
- California Physicians and Surgeons License - Medical Board of CA -REQUIRED
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree - M.B.A. and/or M.P.H.
- Relevant experience in medical staff organization leadership as a Vice President of Medical Affairs and/or Quality, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Quality Officer, or other senior physician leader in a similar-sized hospital or health system.

Partners with the clinical and operational leadership to develop a quality plan and execute achieving quality outcomes.
Leads the Quality department and chairs the Quality Council, and participates in pertinent committees such as Pharmacy and Therapeutics, and Medical Staff department Committees as assigned.
Regularly reviews quality related data and trends and works with team members to develop and implement corrective actions as appropriate.
Maintains working knowledge of applicable national, state, and local laws and regulations affecting the medical staff including not limited to: Joint Commission, Title 22, CMS conditions of participation,
Assists with compliance with patient care standards as defined by those professional organizations and regulatory agencies.
Assures effective interfaces with external review organizations (e.g., Joint Commission, etc.).
Provides an environment of clinical excellence and cost improvement that is data driven.
Monitors physician and group practice patterns, presents data analysis and interpretation to physicians and medical and hospital committees for review.
Facilitates, intervenes, and moderates all major physician-physician, physician-patient, and physician-staff concerns in collaboration with Risk Management, MEC, and other appropriate Medical Staff and management team members.
Member of PSERT Committee and reviews patient care events and collaborate with Administration and Medical Staff to prevent occurrences.
Supports and establishes a system that assures provision of necessary patient care services, timely, and at the appropriate level of care.
