Job Description

Reporting to the Vice President, Automotive, the role of Director, Events involves leading the development and execution of the Automotive events and community strategy on a global scale. Managing and motivating a high-performing team of Conference Producers is central to the job, while communicating and leading on the vision for events across the wider Automotive events team, including sales, marketing, delegate sales, VIP, customer success and operations. The role provides the opportunity to drive innovation through industry relationships, robust research and data-informed decision-making.

Role Responsibilities

  • Formulates and executes the development of the events & community strategy for the Automotive team to deliver significant revenue growth, while managing costs effectively
  • Motivate and manage a high-performing team of conference producers to create exceptional event content and experiences which will ensure continued audience growth for all events within the Automotive market
  • Work closely with VIP & Community manager in developing VIP relationships and building the AutoTech Community both online and in-person
  • Work in a hybrid structure to set targets and manage adjacent teams to deliver on the commercial and audience objectives
  • Identify and deliver collaboration opportunities with third parties to help deliver growth
  • Manage team schedules, identify delivery challenges and ensure team are equipped to deliver best-in-class events
  • Track and manage event performance, identify and ensure best practice is delivered, and define event evolution requirements to ensure relevance and currency
  • Manage external advisory groups and content relationships to leverage insight into event plans
  • Work with Content Lead to ensure Market Pillar content strategy is represented within events, involving analysts and editors to deliver events of the highest quality
  • Work with the Sales Lead to ensure forecasting and pipeline development are reaching the required volume and quality to ensure revenue growth across all events and community activities
  • Take event insights back into Market Pillar and share learnings to help overall Market Pillar growth
  • Represent the Automotive event team at internal and external events, building the reputation and presence of Informa Tech among the Automotive Industry

Qualifications

  • Strong market knowledge with ability to speak and present to clients, audience and other key stakeholders (i.e., speakers, press)
  • Experience in creating exceptional and innovative event and community content and experiences
  • Skilled in tracking and managing event performance including cadence of reporting, forecasting and best practice milestones
  • Commercially minded leader who can drive innovation and results with internal team
  • Demonstrable ability to set plans and manage delivery across range of interdependent products
  • Demonstrable prior experience in collaborating effectively within Market Pillar, cross-pillar and central capabilities
  • Prior leadership, coaching and mentoring expertise (including success in managing in a matrixed environment)
  • Can demonstrate active participation in successful and effective cross-org working groups and initiatives

The pay range for this position is $93,500.00 $120,000.00 depending on experience.
