This role focuses on cost control, ensuring security, and driving automation to enhance operational efficiency and scalability. The Cloud Engineer builds and maintains cloud hygiene practices, provides visibility into infrastructure costs, and oversees SaaS product permissions, contracts, costs, and licenses. By fostering best practices in automation and resource management, the role ensures the stability, security, and cost-effectiveness of the organization’s foundational systems, enabling seamless delivery of business objectives.</p> <p><span>What will you be doing?</span></p> <ul> <li>Design, build, and manage highly scalable, secure, and available infrastructure operating 24x7.</li> <li>Ensure that Auctane infrastructure platforms are secure and can scale to support rapid growth in transaction volumes during peak business periods, minimizing exposure to single points of failure.</li> <li>Implement and maintain infrastructure platforms with the highest levels of security, reliability, scalability, and performance.</li> <li>Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools to streamline deployment, monitoring, and operations processes.</li> <li>Collaborate with software engineering teams to ensure applications are designed for reliability and scalability.</li> <li>Monitor infrastructure performance, proactively identifying and resolving issues before they impact business operations.</li> <li>Manage cloud hygiene practices, ensuring efficient resource utilization and cost management.</li> <li>Provide visibility into infrastructure costs and work with stakeholders to optimize spending.</li> <li>Oversee SaaS product permissions, contracts, costs, and licenses to ensure compliance and cost-effectiveness.</li> <li>Mentor and guide junior DevOps engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration</li> <li>Provide out of hours support either as part of scheduled rota or critical project delivery</li> <li>Ensure data stores are handing data according to our policies.</li> </ul> <p><span>What are we looking for?</span></p> <ul> <li>BS or MS in Computer Science, Management of Information Systems, Information Security/Assurance, Internal Audit, or equivalent experience.</li> <li>Hands-on experience with AWS in a production environment and mastery of AWS services for cloud infrastructure management.</li> <li>Experience in DevOps, Systems Engineering, or related roles with a focus on infrastructure automation, scalability, and security. Technical Expertise:</li> <li>Deep understanding of Cloud Engineering principles, including Operational Excellence, Security, Reliability, Performance Efficiency, Cost Optimization, and Observability. </li> <li>Advanced proficiency in Windows and Linux operating systems with strong knowledge of system administration. </li> <li>Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). </li> <li>Strong scripting skills in Bash and Python for automation and infrastructure management. </li> <li>Advanced experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles, as well as configuration management tools. </li> <li>In-depth knowledge of network protocols and security best practices, including IP, TCP, HTTP, DNS, SSL. </li> <li>Proven experience in designing and managing highly available, scalable, and secure infrastructure platforms. </li> <li>Experience supporting enterprise-level storage and networking technologies.</li> <li>Passion for automation and efficiency, constantly seeking ways to improve processes. </li> <li>Strong problem-solving skills and troubleshooting expertise for complex system engineering issues.</li> <li>Experience with monitoring and logging tools to ensure infra
