The Global Manager Safety & Health is responsible for leading the Safety & Health excellence agenda at Barry Callebaut. This role defines the Safety & Health strategy and develops relevant standards and programs to set, exceed and ensure compliance to legal safety & health requirements, relevant SMETA requirements and to continuously improve the safety culture in BC. This role ensures new developments and risks are identified and ensures BC programs contribute to achieving Zero Accidents.
Key responsibilities:
Leading the development of the global Go for Zero Accidents Strategy
- Leading the development and continuous improvement of global safety & health systems and programs.
- Design BC’s global safety & health standards, aligned with the life saving principles concept and critical priorities.
- Develop globally positive initiatives pertaining to safety & health.
- Design reports, analyze data from surveys and audits to drive review and improvement of standards.
- Integrate new science and technology in the Safety & Health toolbox.
- Build collaboration across the global SHE community.
Provide expertise advice and technical support in safety & health topics at global level
- Lead programs to continuously reduce the risk profile of Barry Callebaut, together with Enterprise Risk Management.
- Support the local sites in the application of the Loss Prevention Standard.
- Lead the process safety expertise group.
- Continuously improve the Loss Prevention Standard in alignment with brokers and insurers and based on the latest technical knowledge of science and risks.
- Support the local sites in safety & health emergency response and crisis management.
- Building and managing competencies and culture in the organization through effective training, share & learn etc.
- Coach functional and operational leaders in safety & health matters.
Define and support the deployment of the Safety & Health strategic program in offices and Academies
- Ensure compliance to law and effective implementation of BC standards.
- Support in risk management and management of change.
- Increase visibility of SHE performance and progress against targets and key performance indicators.
Qualifications and skills:
- Master Degree in Engineering or equivalent, with additional professional qualifications in Safety & Health and Fire Safety Management Systems a plus.
- Project management experience.
- Fluent in English, additional languages a plus.
- Experienced in establishing and implementing strategic plans to deliver the planned results.
- Mix of manufacturing and SHE functional expertise.
- Focusing on performance, ability to drive results and managing execution.
- Building strong collaborative relationships.
- Influencing people by driving vision and purpose, gaining engagement through effective communication.
- Possesses an understanding of team dynamics and how to resolve conflict.
- Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast paced and diverse environment.
- Effective communication, organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Coaching and training skills.
- Be willing to business trips (up to 15%).
