Overview

The Nurse Manager- Outpatient Clinics plans, develops, and implements all aspects of the Outpatient Clinics – Outpatient Clinic, Center for Wound Management (Wound Care and Hyperbaric), Pain Clinic, Specialty Clinic, Infusion Center, and Telehealth. Acts as a liaison between these areas, hospital departments, patients, physicians’ offices, MHS Affiliates, vendors, and other facilities. Monitors the components of these areas to ensure that the goals and objectives of the program are consistent with the overall strategic plan of PAH and MHS. 

Assists in the development and evaluation of the nursing personnel.  Services as clinical resource person to the designated unit.  Provides direction to the nursing staff in utilizing the nursing process and assuring continuity of care for patients of all age groups. 

Responsible for coordination of outreach activities that support these areas. Embodies the Memorial Health System Performance Excellence Standards of Safety, Quality, Integrity and Stewardship that support our mission, vision and values.

Qualifications

Education:

  • BSN required
  • Master’s degree preferred.

Licensure/Certification/Registry:

  • Licensed and currently registered as a professional nurse in the State of Illinois
  • Certified in CPR or completes certification during Nursing Team Onboarding

Experience:

  • Three years of current clinical experience
  • Prefer experience in Outpatient clinical specialty

Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Demonstrates leadership skill and ability
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time, bend and kneel, reach above head, lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs.

  • Program Management
    • Responsible for developing, monitoring, and operationalizing the capital and expense budgets for the related areas
    • Identifies areas for growth and additional services
    • Assists with the development of proformas to grow and add services
    • Coordinates contract terms with physicians renting space and/or personnel in the Specialty Clinic
    • Develops and monitors metrics for quality and through put
    • Writes and updates policies, protocols, and procedures for these areas

     

     

  • Management of Patient Care
    • Collaborates with medical staff to coordinate management of patients
    • Evaluates patient care daily with the use of rounding, huddles, review of medical record and patient care conferences
    • Manages all clinical nursing activities
    • Ensures physician and nursing documentation is complete to support coding and billing
    • Clinical Resource for the nursing and ancillary staff specific to the specialty
    • Resource for current technology available on the unit and for policy and procedure interpretation
    • Communicates to all ages groups using age appropriate communication skills
    • Demonstrates skill in performing care appropriate for the patient’s age group
    • Demonstrates knowledge in tools and tactics to manage staff in provide a great patient experience for patients, families and visitors
    • Collaborates with other members of the health care team to coordinate patient care and transition to the next level of care
    • Serves as an advocate for the patient and family

     

  • Management of Patient Care Unit
    • Participates in annual planning of Nursing Department Strategic Plan
    • Annually
