Your role at Clorox:
The Plant Human Resource Generalist will run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. This role may oversee the scheduling, assignments, and daily workflow of subordinate staff in the department.In this role, you will:
Monitors, audits, and documents compliance with both mandatory and non-mandatory training programs and job performance assessments to ensure workforce readiness and regulatory adherence. Tracks completion rates, identifies gaps, and coordinates with supervisors to implement corrective measures.
Coordinates and manages pre-employment processes, including background checks, reference verifications, and employment eligibility confirmations, in compliance with applicable laws and organizational policies.
Designs and delivers structured onboarding and orientation programs to integrate new hires effectively. Oversees employee engagement and recognition initiatives to support retention and a positive organizational culture.
Administers and supports core human resource functions, including compensation and benefits administration, leave management, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, employee relations, workplace investigations, occupational health and safety, and staff development programs. Ensures timely and accurate processing of related documentation and communication.
Addresses employee relations matters proactively and responsively, working to resolve workplace issues such as interpersonal conflicts, policy violations, performance concerns, and grievances. Facilitates open communication, conducts fact-finding meetings, and provides coaching or mediation to support a respectful and compliant work environment.
Serves as a primary point of contact for employees, applicants, and management regarding HR-related inquiries, providing guidance on policies and procedures while escalating complex or sensitive issues to senior HR leadership or legal counsel as necessary.
Participates in and documents employee relations processes, including disciplinary meetings, conflict resolution sessions, terminations, and formal investigations, ensuring fairness, due process, and legal compliance.
Ensures organizational compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulatory requirements. Regularly reviews and updates HR policies, procedures, and handbooks to reflect current legal standards and best practices.
Stays informed of industry trends and evolving best practices in human resources management, talent acquisition, employment law, employee engagement, and HR technology to continuously improve HR strategies and tools.
Performs additional HR-related duties and special projects as assigned, demonstrating adaptability and a commitment to organizational success.
What we look for:
3+ years of progressive experience as an HR Generalist within a manufacturing or similarly fast-paced, labor-intensive environment, with a strong understanding of operational and workforce challenges unique to such settings.
1+ years of supervisory or HR management experience preferred, demonstrating leadership potential and team development skills.
Demonstrated expertise in employee relations (ER), including conflict resolution, policy interpretation, and issue mediation. Adept at managing complex interpersonal situations to ensure fair outcomes while mitigating risk.
Proven ability to coach and advise managers and employees on performance management, team dynamics, and workplace behavior, fostering a respectful and productive organizational culture.
Experienced in conducting thorough and impartial workplace investigations, including those involving alleged policy violations, misconduct, and harassment, ensuring appropriate documentation and compliance with legal standards.
Highly skilled in managing confidential and sensitive information with discretion, maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.
