The Director, Procurement, Analytical Testing Services position is responsible for developing, leading, and implementing complex integrated strategies and matrix team for critical segments of Analytical Testing Services across all modalities including Small and Large Molecules as well as Cell Therapy supporting both Clinical and Commercial programs. This ensures reliable, robust, agile, compliant, and cost-effective supply and services. The Director will serve as Pillar Lead, engaging closely with colleagues across BMS Product Development, Cell Therapy , Analytical Services Operations, External Manufacturing, and Global Procurement to drive speed and supply assurance. This role supports long-term testing service decisions that ensure quality for Clinical and Commercial Supply.

The Director will lead both a functional team as well as integrated collaborative teams to establish robust preferred supplier selection and management aligned with business needs. This leader must operate across technical, operational, and commercial domains to enable speed, high-quality performance, supply assurance, and risk mitigation. Effective communication with stakeholders from scientists to operations and quality teams is essential.

Major Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Develop and monitor area financial and performance targets.

  • Cultivate category pillar external supplier budgets on an annual basis.

  • Support functional team in the development of global category strategies with regional/market adaptations.

  • Establish supplier relationship management cadence and support programs for the team.

  • Create and implement 3-to-5-year strategic plans to meet area and category targets.

  • Ensure alignment and clarity of roles between functional team as well as global and regional teams.

  • Negotiate significant supply agreements (e.g., MSAs).

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Manage key category budget owners and functional stakeholders.

  • Champion procurement training to align with business needs.

  • Drive accountability and co-ownership of strategic initiatives.

  • Implement performance metrics and reporting systems.

  • Foster cross-functional collaboration and effective stakeholder management.

  • Provide market insights and subject matter expertise to business partners.

Operational Excellence

  • Stay current with market trends and emerging supplier capabilities.

  • Coach cross-functional teams to execute strategies globally and regionally.

  • Build strategic supplier partnerships and manage compliance.

  • Recommend and implement procurement and supply chain policy improvements.

  • Measure supplier performance using defined standards.

Strategic Impact

  • Optimize total cost of ownership and support continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Promote the use of tools and technology to enhance procurement efficiency.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum education of a B.S./B.A. in science, engineering or related field is required.

  • Minimum of ten (10) years of business experience, in which eight (8) years is in procurement or a related domain.

  • Minimum of three (3) years in pharmaceutical procurement or direct collaboration with such teams.

  • Proven leadership of cross-functional/global teams and senior professionals.
