Position Summary
Effectual Cloud Networking Consultants are members of the Public Sector Program Management team responsible for ensuring that customer-facing projects are delivered with exceptional customer satisfaction and technical excellence. Effectual Cloud Networking Consultants are “Brand Ambassadors” and are expected to stay current on leading practices to deliver high-quality, well-conceived solutions to customers.
A Glimpse into the Daily Routine of a Cloud Networking Consultant
Lead networking of state of the art, automated, fault-tolerant, and scalable AWS environments adhering to AWS best practices in standard and GovCloud regions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including external agencies, internal customer teams, application teams and cloud architects, to design and implement secure and scalable cloud networking architectures. Assess network performance and troubleshoot any connectivity issues during the migration process. Provide expert guidance on network automation, security, and compliance considerations specific to the public sector agency. Stay updated on emerging cloud networking technologies and industry best practices. Designing and implementing networking solutions, troubleshooting network issues, and providing strategic advice for successful application migrations to the cloud.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with clients to understand their application networking requirements, dependencies, and performance expectations for successful migrations
- Collaborate with application teams, cloud architects, and engineers to ensure smooth integration of application networking components within the cloud environment
- Experience with designing, maintaining, and provide subject matter expertise for network connections within and interfaces outside current network boundaries
- Assess existing network architectures and design cloud networking solutions that ensure secure, scalable, and high-performance connectivity that adhere to industry regulations and compliance frameworks
- Develop comprehensive network migration plans, including network discovery, assessment, and planning for transitioning application networks to the cloud
- Design and implement cloud networking architectures, including virtual private clouds (VPCs), subnets, routing, load balancing, and connectivity options, aligning with best practices for application migration
- Configure and optimize cloud networking services, including but not limited to Amazon VPC, AWS Transit Gateway, AWS Direct Connect, or AWS Network Firewall, to provide seamless and reliable network connectivity for migrated applications
- Conduct network performance analysis, monitoring, and troubleshooting during the migration process to identify and resolve connectivity and performance issues affecting application performance
- Implement network security measures, including firewalls, access controls, and encryption, to protect application networking environments in the cloud.
- Assist in evaluating and selecting appropriate network monitoring and management tools for cloud networking environments to ensure ongoing visibility and control
- Stay updated with emerging cloud networking technologies, industry trends, and best practices related to application migrations to the cloud
Qualifications
- Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in related discipline AND
- Minimum Experience: 4 years’ experience in networking preferably specialized cloud technologies OR
- Substitution/Alternative to Minimum Education and Experience: Must have at least 12 years of on-the-job experience
- Be able to work remotely but, be able to go on-site as requested and/or occasionally with potentially some form of post-pandemic cadence, on-site in Washington DC
- AWS Professional Certifications – Advanced Networking Specialty or Solutions Architect and/or DevOps Certifications; CompTIA Network+
- Must be a US Citizen
- Proven experience as a networking consultant, specifically supporting application migrations to the cloud
- Strong knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, and architectures, including TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, load balancing, and application-level networking
- Expertise in designing and implementing network solutions in public cloud environments, primarily AWS, with a focus on application migration scenarios
- Strong understanding of applying Trusted Internet Connections (TIC) 3.0 to application workloads
- Proficiency in cloud networking services, such as Amazon VPC, Azure Virtual Network, or Google Cloud VPC, and their capabilities for supporting application migrations
- Familiarity with network security principles and best
