Details

  • Position type: Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Family Medicine Physician (MD/DO)
  • Setting: Inpatient behavioral hospital.
  • Full-time or part-time available.
  • Conduct comprehensive medical assessments, including initial history and physicals (H&Ps) within 24 hours of admission, follow-ups, and discharge planning.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, and support staff to create integrated treatment plans addressing medical and mental health needs.
  • Co-manage patients with complex medical comorbidities alongside mental health providers.
  • Educate patients and families on medical conditions, medications, and lifestyle adjustments to enhance overall health.
  • Provide medical consults and recommend diagnostic tests and treatments as needed.
  • Deliver emergency care within your licensure scope until specialized care is available.

Requirements

  • Licensure:Active Alaska Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license or Alaska Physician Medical license (MD/DO), or the ability to obtain licensure prior to start.

Education:

  • Completion of an accredited Family Nurse Practitioner program OR
  • Completion of an accredited medical school with Family Medicine residency training.

Certification:

  • AANPCB or ANCC certification (for Nurse Practitioners) OR
  • Board‑eligible or board‑certified in Family Medicine (for MD/DO).

Experience:

  • Prior clinical experience in an inpatient or acute care setting preferred; behavioral health experience a plus.
  • New graduates with relevant clinical training and strong interest in behavioral health will be considered.
