Job Description

 

This position is located in the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) Financial Payments Section within the Bureau of the Comptroller at the Department of Education. This section is responsible for the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation’s internal financial and accounting operations, which include contractual and grant payments, accounts payable, travel and purchasing card, revenue and client services. This position is responsible for the coordination, supervision, and management of the DVR Financial Payments Section. This position requires independent judgment and analysis of matters related to federal and state financial management and reporting activities. The duties of this position are to provide direction, technical assistance, guidance and consultation to the DVR leadership and grant program managers.

 

Specific Responsibilities

 

  • Supervision, Evaluation and Training

 

    • completes employee performance evaluation in a timely manner
    • addresses and corrects employees’ poor performance
    • holds regular staff meetings
    • schedules leave time
    • provides back-up to other areas as needed
    • coordinates the training of associates on the use of accounting codes
    • provides on the job training for employees
    • regularly attends DVR executive leadership meetings
    • obtains and oversees the provision of VR-specific federal grant management training and certifications for cooperatively identified staff with DVR
