The Senior Director, Airway Management R&D serves to provide the product vision, leadership, and managerial oversight to define and drive airway management technology and product development within ACM.  This is inclusive of our McGRATH MAC™ video laryngoscopes, Shiley™ endotracheal tubes and tracheostomies, and DAR™ breathing circuits and filters.

This leader is accountable for the discovery, development, and sustaining of all airway management products and solutions.  With primary focus on problem-solution fit, this role ensures all product development meets the needs of patients, providers and the business from discovery through sustaining. This role will leverage extensive hands-on experience in new product development to form and grow a highly proficient and collaborative team.

The Senior Director, Airway Management R&D reports to the Vice President, ACM R&D and is a key member of the ACM R&D Leadership Team.  The Airway Management R&D team is a newly formed organization intended to provide product leadership across a united Airway Management product portfolio and is an exciting opportunity to shape the organization and provide substantial value and impact.

Responsibilities include:

  • Functional leadership of the Airway Management R&D team ensuring on-time and on-budget technology and product development.

  • Staffing and people leadership of the Airway Management R&D team ensuring consistent capability, capacity, and growth of the team and their domain expertise

  • Product leadership for the Airway Management portfolio, working globally across commercial, technical, and regulatory functions to ensure a comprehensive understanding of customer/patient/technology/business needs.   Clearly translates those needs into impactful products and solutions.

  • Design and development leadership of new products and solutions from concept through commercialization.  Ensures problem-solution fit.

  • Member of the R&D leadership team collaborating to drive a product leadership culture across ACM.

  • Spokesperson for Airway Management products.

  • Travel requirements: 20%

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline

  • Minimum of 15 years of engineering experience with 10+ years of managerial experience, or Advanced Degree with a minimum 13 years of engineering experience, minimum of 10 years of managerial experience

  • Mastery of the product development process and design controls

  • Demonstrated technology and product development leadership and interdepartmental collaboration

Nice to Have

  • Expertise in Airway Management technology and product development

  • Expertise in new product introduction and in-market product support

  • Passion for delivering best-in-class products to market that exceed customer expectations

  • 5+ yrs experience in a regulated field such as medical device or aerospace/defense
